The University of St. Francis had former Chicago Bears hall of fame linebacker, Mike Singletary as their guest speaker at the 45th Annual Brown & Gold Night. This fundraising event took place at the Pat Sullivan Center on the USF campus on Thursday, February 22nd. During the event, Singletary went on to talk about one of Chicago’s biggest storylines: what will the Bears do at quarterback? Singletary did not hold back as he expressed his full support for the current Bears quarterback, Justin Fields.
”From the outside looking in, Fields looked to me to be a guy you can win with. Looks like he needs some tools. He has been running for his life.. It will be interesting to see what they do. Personally, I like Justin Fields.“
Mike Singletary believes the Bears should build their team around Justin Fields
Singletary not only praised Justin Fields during his guest appearance but also stressed the importance of building a better team around him. He pointed out that the offensive line still needs help and advocated for adding more playmakers to the roster. Singletary also mentioned that the Bears should have kept David Montgomery as their running back. Furthermore, he expressed frustration with the lack of support given to Fields, questioning the decision not to invest in his development and simply bring in another guy. Singletary’s position provides a clear direction on what he wants the Bears to do. As the NFL combine approaches next week, the Bears plans will likely be revealed regarding the path they intend to take at QB.

Singletary had a great career as a GM … NOT!!! This must be a joke!
Mike Singletary’s voice and opinion are something to be considered with respect. One of the greatest to play the game, and one of the best character reference voices in the NFL.
Bringing M Singletary in as consultant would also be a great move and motivator, but respecting his viewpoint is something R Poles should consider with a lot direction than the media!

I’ve posted plenty of my reasons for building around Fields. And while there are opposing views, I still don’t believe CW is a superior choice over Fields.
Sure, it resets the clock, and gives Poles a chance to pick “his” guy. But when Fields has his breakout moment. Poles better be right about where that happens.
The difference between Singletary and other ex players is that Mike was building a winning team as a coach in SF before diva players and the media blew a sideline incident out of proportion. He is the kind of guy I would ask for help in looking for players with good character and skill. And he’s 100% right about Fields and Montgomery.
