Chicago Bears GM Has Eye-Opening Comments On Trade Deadline

-

Ryan Poles has been active at every trade deadline so far. He dealt a 2nd round pick to Pittsburgh for Chase Claypool in 2022. Last year, he sent another 2nd rounder to Washington for Montez Sweat. Now that the Chicago Bears are finally in a position to chase a playoff berth, it would make sense he’d keep his foot on the gas, right? Some aren’t so sure. They feel the roster is in a good place and there is no sense giving up valuable draft capital for what could end up becoming a short-term rental.

The problem is those people still haven’t grasped how Poles thinks. He is shown to be calculated but aggressive this time of year. The GM spoke on ESPN 1000 shortly before the Bears’ game in Washington against the Commanders. It sure didn’t sound like he was content to sit back and relax before the November 5th deadline.

The Chicago Bears aren’t a defensive team anymore.

People thought that meant strictly on the field. As it turns out, it also holds true for how they operate at the top. Poles is not somebody who stands pat. He always looks for ways to get better, provided it doesn’t break the bank. People thought he was crazy for the Claypool and Sweat trades because it went against every NFL convention about how rebuilds are conducted. You don’t start trading for veteran players until you are certain you have a window to contention. Poles thinks differently. If there is a chance to get better immediately, he will do it. Just because he wants to focus on building through the draft doesn’t mean the Chicago Bears GM is ignorant of other opportunities. If feels like the next nine days could get interesting for this team, especially with a potential fire sale on the way.

Risky Stevenson did get smacked and whacked at the end. Very unprofessional and serves him right!

It would help if the Bears could eat up the clock throughout the game so Daniels gets fewer drives to score, eventually.

Kay, you would do well to sell life insurance on this site with exclusions for suicides.
