Chicago Bears Finally Get Exciting Offensive Line News

-

The Chicago Bears haven’t received much good news regarding their offensive line since training camp began. Nate Davis missed most of it with injury issues, and Ryan Bates suffered a shoulder injury that has landed him on IR. Coleman Shelton and Teven Jenkins have also gone through their share of struggles to start the season. While nobody expected this group to be great, they at least expected it to be serviceable. They aren’t anywhere close to even that. Fans can only cover their heads in pain.

Thankfully, there was finally a bit of exciting news out of Halas Hall. Kiran Amegadjie, their 3rd round pick this past April, has been working his way back from a quad injury he suffered last October. The latest Thursday injury report revealed that he practiced in full for the first time, a true indication that he is closer than ever to seeing possible action this season.

The Chicago Bears no doubt have high hopes for Amegadjie.

GM Ryan Poles said the initial plan was to bring the rookie along slowly. Not only was he inexperienced, but he also played against subpar competition in college. It would take time to get him healthy and up to speed. The Chicago Bears have likely educated him on the offense for the past several weeks. Now they get to see where he’s at from a physical standpoint. Practicing in full means he was in pads and able to bang around. He won’t be ready right away to handle live game conditions. Still, if he makes good progress they could start sprinkling him into games not long from now.

I forgot about Daniels. That one hurts right now.

James Daniels has started 49 games at RG for the Steelers (17, 17 and 15 in 2022–2023). He has allowed 2 sacks in 3 years — and 6 sacks over his entire 7-year, NFL career (3,307 pass blocks; 5.496 total snaps)

Poles said Daniels just wasn’t a good “scheme fit.” If the goal is a scheme comprised of losers — Poles was right.

Releasing James Daniels in 2022, should have warned us all that Ryan Poles was a fraud.

Could’ve had Jim Harbaugh. A guy whose track record speaks for itself. Instead they stuck with Matt Eberwho? You know, the guy who was defensive coordinator of that one Indy defense that was sorta good that one year. Plus as an added bonus, he only costs around $3mill a year, yeaayy!

Reminder: The Bears released James Daniels (who has been starting for the Steelers at GUARD) to sign . . . Nate Davis. Daniels just turned 27 and will be looking for another contract. I don’t know if he’s sat on the bench since he left the Bears. Granted, the Steelers line is almost as poor as the Bears, but at least Daniels showed up to practice and played on Sundays.

Don’t have “high hopes” until we see him block something.
