During an interview with Merril Hoge, a former NFL player and ESPN analyst, NBC Chicago asked about the Chicago Bears quarterback situation. Hoge’s response was blunt and critical, particularly towards Caleb Williams.
Caleb Williams took notice.
In today’s age of social media, even a simple gesture like liking a post or leaving a comment can make a big impact. This was evident when Caleb Williams liked a tweet from NBC Chicago featuring Merril Hoge, essentially using modern methods to keep track of criticism aka “clip board material”.
Personally, I appreciate this trait of Caleb Williams. Many legendary athletes, such as Michael Jordan, have used various tactics to motivate themselves. It just looks different now with social media being so prominent. In the case of Williams, his active presence on social media might not sit well with everyone, but it’s reflective of the times we live in. Williams is aware of the chatter surrounding him, and if he goes to Chicago with the number one pick, he’s determined to prove any doubters wrong. You got to respect that.

Why would Caleb say that? He has no idea what the Bears are thinking. They may have been planning to trade down with Washington since the draft order was set. It’s the media that’s fanning this flame. It just so happens his home town team is within picking distance. He’s not announcing he would be willing to play for Washington either, or New England. He has no control over that, and I’m sure he’ll play wherever he was picked. Especially these major market teams, I’m sure many kids grew up with dreams of starring for their hometown team. Did anyone… Read more »
I would trade the pick for a haul but my point is simply…has he ever said he would love to play for Chicago and lead the Bears? I don’t think so..just some vague comments.
He could be right about Caleb. But then I remember reading Merril Hoge saying Mahomes was a 2nd rounder. He also said Justin Herbert wasn’t going to become good in the NFL because his “twitch” was slow and he was inaccurate. So he isn’t exactly killing it in his analysis.
Ha Ha Ha
Good one Scooby
I actually met him at the MGM pool in Vegas. He had his mind on the women.
