There were plenty of MVPs in the Chicago Bears‘ beatdown of the Kansas City Chiefs in the preseason finale. Cornerback Reddy Steward had two huge interceptions, one near the goal line and another that went for a touchdown. Velus Jones embraced his new role at running back with 111 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Scott made some big plays through the air for 99 yards. Adrian Colbert had the best pass breakup of the entire preseason with his one-handed Superman knockdown of what would’ve been a Chiefs touchdown. However, it appears Caleb Williams once again found a way to steal the spotlight.
The rookie quarterback may not have played in the game, but he still found a way to make at least one fan’s entire night. Cameras caught him walking over to the stands, where a young girl was cheering for him. He proceeded to reach up and give her a big hug. The girl’s reaction was as heartwarming as you’d expect.
Caleb Williams continues to defy preconceived notions.
Lots of critics were eager to color the quarterback as selfish. He was only interested in things that made him look good, on and off the field. Time has shown those people had no clue what they were talking about. They chose a narrative and ran with it. Williams might be quirky in some ways, but everybody around him insists he is a 100% solid human being. His interaction with Bears fans since being drafted confirms this. He took selfies with them during the draft. He’d embrace their chants of “Green Bay sucks!” at local restaurants. Now, he takes time to give the younger generation a core memory they will cherish forever. Not many quarterbacks would be willing to do stuff like that.
It remains to be seen if Caleb Williams becomes the star everyone believes he will be. One thing is certain. If he does, he will own Chicago for the rest of his life.

As a Dad to four daughters, (And Bears fans!) that speaks volumes about his character. I had my doubts at first. Hard not to get caught up in the anti hype when you’re an old fart like me and don’t much care for change. But, more and more I am happy about it. NOW GO WIN US A TITLE!!!
Well done CW
“What a man, what a man, what a mighty fine man.”
I’m a hardened Bears fan and am almost always disappointed with our QB play after having high hopes. However, this dude seems too good to be true. Not only with his talent, work ethic and everything football related but he makes a point of treating everybody from all walks of life with care and respect. What a guy! And he’s our QB!
One of the things that has really impressed me about Caleb is that he takes his job seriously, but he also seems to have a lot of joy playing football and being a leader. He knows that Chicago is obsessed about their Bears and he embraces that and does something simple like engaging with fans and knows it means a lot to people. He appears to be a very impressive young man and I look forward to having him lead our team for the next decade. Bear Down
