Bills Might Play Recently Signed WR At QB Against The Bears

-

The Bears beat the New York Jets in a decisive fashion this past week, 24-10, in large part by pressuring rookie QB, Sam Darnold.

Darnold played decently well against a stout Bears defense, but he was constantly forced in and out of the pocket and had little to no help at wide-receiver.

The Bears might have a very similar storyline for this next week’s matchup against the Bills…

Bills Sign Former QB And Current WR, Terrelle Pryor

Terrelle Pryor was an impressive college quarterback at Ohio State University, but didn’t have the tools needed to make the jump and play the position in the NFL. While he had a few years as a quarterback in Oakland from 2011 to 2013, he never made an impact. Only throwing for 1798 yards, seven touchdowns and 11 interceptions with a completion percentage of 57.4 in 11 games when handed the reigns.

He was told that he would need to make a position switch to wide-receiver if he wanted to continue in the league and he made that switch in 2015, joining Cleveland’s talent-deprived team and attempting to carve out a role for himself there.

He exploded onto the scene in 2016 with 77 receptions, 1007 yards and 4 touchdowns and looked to be on track to become a solid wide-receiver in this league.

However, he signed with Washington the next offseason and proceeded to primarily ride the bench.

Looking to bounce back, he signed with the receiver needy Jets this year and became a reliable target for Darnold.

However, two weeks ago the Jets released Pryor after a groin injury sidelined him.

He made it clear that he wanted to continue playing football, but he needed a team that would be interested. That’s when Buffalo became interested and offered him a deal.

This move made sense for the Bills, as their team is void of difference makers at the receiver position and they could use an extra body. However, news just came out that Pryor might not be used only as a receiver.

Terrelle Pryor Might Play QB For The Bills This Week

Jay Skurski, a Buffalo Bills beat writer, shared a comment from head coach Sean McDermott on Tuesday afternoon.

The man has been a wide-receiver for four seasons now, just signs with a team and they are entertaining the idea of playing him at QB this Sunday. Insane.

Josh Allen is injured, Derek Anderson left last week’s game with a concussion and Nathan Peterman is a walking turnover. For them to be looking Pryor’s direction at all speaks volumes of their quarterback situation.

Putting Peterman up against Fuller, Callahan, Amukamara, Jackson, etc. was juicy enough. Add in Pryor, who hasn’t thrown a pass since 2016, and this game might reach new levels of defensive dominance.

Buckle up, Bears fans. This might be a long day in the best way possible.
