Bears Star Involved in NFL’s Jaw-Dropping Latest Announcement

-

The Chicago Bears secured a big team win last Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. One of the most surprising moments of the game came when starting long snapper Scott Daly was sidelined early with a knee injury. Tight end Cole Kmet stepped in as the long snapper and kept things running smoothly in the Bears’ 35-16 victory. Kmet delivered five perfect long snaps and also caught two touchdowns on offense, showcasing his versatility. The NFL took notice, naming Kmet the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week—making him the first-ever long snapper to earn the honor.

Cole Kmet is off to an impressive start this season through six weeks. Here’s how he ranks in key tight end categories:

0 drops (1st)

26 receptions (4th)

Just curious, how come a center never enters into the conversation of long snapper, you would think that they would at least be part of his job description. I would think a center snapping long during shotgun plays would at least put him in the mix before Tight Ends. Just saying.

Well, if local C Kramer (vs. Kramer) plays FB on a 2-pt successful conversion, he will be up for some type of award too. You mean the local cannot learn to long-snap for punts or extra points to expand his skill set over the many years? What a millennial! Okay, he is a highly skilled specialist in a complex division of labor. Say what?

Well, if it didn’t go to Kmet, Taylor averaged around 61 yards (gross) on two punts, if I remember the numbers correctly, so that would have been another candidate, but it also would have gotten him the award two weeks back to back.

Personally, I felt his FG and XP snaps were a little high, but Taylor got them down all right, and it was a dominant win, so missing the last FG on a tip doesn’t matter.
