The Chicago Bears season has been filled with turmoil, highlighting just how far the team has fallen. The scrutiny hasn’t been limited to the players — those leading the regime have faced significant criticism as well. Team president Kevin Warren has come under fire, while both head coach Matt Eberflus and offensive coordinator Shane Waldron received their share of blame before their departures.
General Manager Ryan Poles, once praised for his offseason moves, is now facing calls for his job. So, what went wrong? At one point, the roster was considered “ready to win now,” but this season’s results suggest that evaluation may have been flawed. Despite an influx of new talent and the return of key players from 2023, the Bears appear further from contention than before — a baffling and frustrating reality for both fans, players, team personnel and analysts.
Ryan Poles losing streaks since he took over as the Bears GM:
14 games in 2022. 8 games and counting in 2024.
Two longest losing streaks in Bears history.

These are the tough questions Poles now faces from critics both inside and outside Halas Hall. On Monday morning, wide receiver DJ Moore addressed the situation on 670 The Score, offering his support for Poles amid the growing scrutiny and rumors surrounding his lack of job security.

“Everybody is going to go after the people at the top … He’s doing the best that he can right now. I know he’s working hard. He’s talked to us about him wanting to get the right person in here to turn this thing around. I believe in him.”
DJ Moore is saying the right things.
DJ Moore signed a lucrative contract just before the season, so it’s possible he’s a bit biased when it comes to GM Ryan Poles. That said, it’s good to see him standing behind his GM.
The bigger question is whether Poles deserves another chance to select the next head coach. His track record so far is questionable, having hired Matt Eberflus, Luke Getsy, and Shane Waldron — all of whom have failed.
Ultimately, the decision may rest with Kevin Warren, who remains the wildcard in this scenario. His choice will be crucial, and with the Bears needing to begin their head coaching search quickly after the season, a decision is likely to come soon.
