Step by step it’s becoming clear exactly what GM Ryan Pace is going for on the offensive side of the football. It first became apparent with the arrivals of Kevin White and Eddie Royal. Injuries though masked what the Chicago Bears were trying to do. Undaunted they’ve continued the same approach, first with Markus Wheaton and now with the latest addition to the wide receiving corps.

Once upon a time Kendall Wright was an intriguing first round pick of the Tennessee Titans. Though short, he was known for quickness, agility and above all speed. His second year in the NFL he broke out for over 1,000 yards. Since then though he’s regressed, suffering through a series of changes to the offense he was drafted into. Even so, that hasn’t stopped him from posting the impressive play from time to time.
Wright is the latest in a speed movement for the Bears on offense. Clearly they’re starting to mimic teams like Pittsburgh and New England. While they may lack for size at the position, covering them becomes a real headache due to their ability to create space and separation. Letting Alshon Jeffery walk may or may not have been planned, but it was clear he didn’t fit the vision of where Pace wants this offense to go.

He learned in New Orleans that speed is paramount to offensive success in the NFL. Wright will rejoin offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains, the man responsible for getting that great year out of him in 2013 while running the Titans offense. If they can mesh like before, this will only help the Bears and their new quarterback.
