As we all know, the media has picked apart Chase Claypool over the last month or so. They’ve stated that the Bears were “unhappy” with him and even questioned his work ethic. This has lead many opposing critics to monitor his every move. And it all really just appeared out of nowhere. However, the Bears released a tweet today that paints a very different narrative surrounding Claypool and what he’s been up too over the summer.
Claypool Is Not A Bad Teammate?
Surprise surprise. It turns out Chase Claypool isn’t such a bad guy after all. He has been helping grow the game over seas and was even sent by the Bears to represent them in their second annual UK Mini Monsters tour. So all of those “Where’s Chase” comments can finally be put to rest.
I understand some people have inside sources. That they hear things from time to time. But this Claypool story was always suspicious to me. Just a week or two before this even became news, Justin Fields had nothing but praise of the former Steelers wide receiver.
Obviously, Chase still has to go out and prove himself and show that the Bears did not make a mistake in trading for him. And I believe he will. But the media got this one wrong. Call it a bad source. Maybe it was even a former Pittsburgh executive that dropped this nugget? Likely to create this very firestorm? I don’t know, just seems so odd. I highly doubt this came from someone in Chicago though. I mean why would the Bears trust Claypool to rep the team overseas if they were “unhappy” with him? It doesn’t add up. Perhaps Claypool said it best.

“Unfortunately it doesn’t fit the narrative.”
If Claypool becomes the Bears leading receiver this year, in TD’s and yards, a lot of these sports writers and bloggers will be eating crow. And the Bears will be in the playoffs.
It all sounded like BS anyway by a bunch of nerds looking for attention, Chase was put in a bad situation coming in half season. I’m confident with the off season work and learning the offense he wii be fine.
Players pretty much all do charity work, and Chase was never criticized in that regard. I admit I am not sure what his charity work has to do with his commitment to football..?? I am glad he is out there helping for sure. Just not sure what it has to do with the things that where said about him in regards to actual football. I just want to see the dude get on the practice field later this month.
You mean the media is making up a BS narrative for clickbait? NO WAY.
OK totally just playing devils advocate here because I tend to agree with the jist of the story: But maybe they sent him to England because everyone is sick of him and can’t stand being around him, and they thought he needed an “experience” to give him some perspective. Again…devils advocate.
