Nobody wants to admit Justin Fields is a lost cause in Chicago. The Bears aren’t ready to say that yet. However, it feels like that moment is approaching. It’s clear the former 1st round pick is struggling. He doesn’t like the offense he’s playing in. Even when he has opportunities for big plays, he’s unable to hit them. Fields deserves blame for how things have gone, but anybody with eyes can tell his status on the team is slipping. The Bears have promoted rookie Tyson Bagent to primary backup. If Fields doesn’t perform in the next few games, they may bench him.
That would create an interesting scenario. The NFL trade deadline is at the end of October. If the Bears reach 0-5 with their playoff prospects all but dead, it isn’t crazy to think GM Ryan Poles may decide to trade off any players he doesn’t plan to keep in 2024. Fields would be an obvious option. There are bound to be some teams out there willing to gamble on his still considerable talent. If Trey Lance can fetch a 4th round pick, Fields can get as much or more.
In fact, at least one team may have lots of interest in the near future.
Justin Fields to the Falcons makes plenty of sense.
It is becoming clear Desmond Ridder isn’t cutting it for Atlanta at quarterback. His first half in London against Jacksonville was a low point, throwing two interceptions, including a pick-six. If the Falcons aren’t careful, a promising start to the season will get wasted because their quarterback isn’t creating enough plays for them. Arthur Smith is a top offensive mind in the league. He’s worked with mobile quarterbacks before. It isn’t a stretch to think he might be able to make good use of what Fields does well.

One must not forget Ryan Pace is in Atlanta’s front office. He drafted Justin Fields two years ago. The idea of acquiring him and reviving his career would no doubt appeal to him. To top it off, Fields is a Georgia native. Coming back to his home state would likely be something he’d embrace. Neither team has reached that point of no return yet, but they’re close. If Fields can’t get things going over the next six days, the Bears may put him on the block. Don’t be surprised if Atlanta comes calling.
Fields isn’t going anywhere after yesterday’s game…
…can’t say the same thing about Flus & Getsy however…
After today’s game do it! Fields looked decent against the Falcons. Get what you can
Yessir!!
