Pro Days are dominating the NFL news scape right now. While some of these workouts are nice for various other positions, they’re wastes of time for quarterbacks. None of these workouts matter for QBs. QBs throwing in t-shirts and shorts without pads or pressure don’t matter. And don’t even get me started on 40-times.
Who cares. Throws matter. Legs are useless in the long run. https://t.co/Wptko7iG6U

(I should clarify that tweet — I mean throws ON TAPE!)
These guys all have physical talent to some degree. Put on the tape to see where they differentiate. Let’s just fast-forward to the NFL Draft already.
Subscribe to the BFR Youtube channel and ride shotgun with Dave and Ficky as they break down Bears football like nobody else.

Okay, now that I’m off my soapbox, let’s dive into this week’s Bears Mailbag. Follow me on Twitter @DhruvKoul to continue the conversation.
Bears Mailbag
Ownership would allow Pace to trade assets for Russell Wilson (proven), not a questionable prospect (e.g. Lance, Fields).
The "trying to save their jobs" narrative is overblown. We have to be realistic about what all the Bears could've accomplished this offseason. (Not a lot.)
— Dhruv Koul (@DhruvKoul) March 31, 2021
IMO, the first pick will be one of these positions:
OT
CB
WRThe Bears do have Leno and Ifedi signed, but if they can upgrade, they should.
Remember, best player available, and I can't imagine the best player available will be outside one of these three positions.

I'm not sure about the depth yet, but the top-end talent is better than this year's.
Sam Howell is an elite prospect. (I've watched a decent bit of him already.)
Tyler Shough and J.T. Daniels are very intriguing.
Spencer Rattler has a lot of hype; I still need to watch him.
— Dhruv Koul (@DhruvKoul) March 31, 2021
That's not quite what happened. This year was always going to be a "reckoning" year with Kyle Fuller's cap hit. Unfortunately, no one traded for him.
The Bears have made some nice "under the radar" moves to fill out their roster, but expect their main moves in the draft.
— Dhruv Koul (@DhruvKoul) March 31, 2021
The Bears (and every team) should be staying out of this until this is resolved.
Quite frankly, I'd be surprised if Deshaun Watson plays football in 2021, let alone ever again.
— Dhruv Koul (@DhruvKoul) March 30, 2021
The Bears have taken swings for Russell Wilson, Seattle just hasn't OK'd them. But the Bears aren't going to go after just anyone.
Their current plan to stabilize the QB spot after bottom-three play in 2019-2020 and invest heavily in the offense is an understandable one.
— Dhruv Koul (@DhruvKoul) March 31, 2021
Day 2/3 pick is the likeliest option. They are better off investing their earliest assets in upgrading the offense — it will be infrastructure that can help Andy Dalton this year and their eventual "answer" at QB next year.
— Dhruv Koul (@DhruvKoul) March 30, 2021
I think his processing speed and accuracy make him an instant average NFL QB, whereas guys like Trey Lance and Justin Fields will be much lower to start.
Jones' ceiling is limited, but teams will certainly take average. There is way too much bad in the league.
— Dhruv Koul (@DhruvKoul) March 31, 2021
I'd watch these three positions, in order.
OT
CB
WROffense is a big investment priority for the Bears, but they can still upgrade massively at CB, and there are some good options in Round 1, especially if some drop (Jaycee Horn, Greg Newsome, Eric Stokes, Patrick Surtain).
— Dhruv Koul (@DhruvKoul) March 31, 2021
Good question. Tarik Cohen is an option (he doesn't usually return kicks, but he did before the Bears' final drive in the Wild Card game against Philly).
The Bears will probably fill this role with a cheaper option.
— Dhruv Koul (@DhruvKoul) March 31, 2021
Physical talent compares to Colin Kaepernick. His processing is… bad, though. Also, he's decently accurate at times, but not enough.
He's a project, IMO.

Official schedule will be released in mid-to-late April.

Darnold would need a year to rebuild his psyche (at the very least), and by then his contract would be over. The Bears are better off loading up for a QB in next year's draft, quite honestly.
— Dhruv Koul (@DhruvKoul) March 30, 2021
I can't answer that for you, but I'll say this: Taking on an objective lens for the benefit of Bears fans helps me (grew up a fan) compartmentalize a lot of the "expected" emotions. Makes it easier, honestly.
