Bears Just Made An Ugly Revelation About Chase Claypool

-

The Chicago Bears offense looked so much better on Sunday against the Broncos. Part of it was how well their receivers performed. Some couldn’t help but wonder if the cohesiveness came thanks to the absence of Chase Claypool. The team’s recent trade acquisition sounded off earlier this week that he felt coaches weren’t utilizing him to the best of his abilities. As a result, he was declared inactive for the game in favor of Equanimeous St. Brown. Matt Eberflus denied the decision had anything to do with his comments, but that’s hard to believe.

Well, it appears Claypool didn’t do himself any favors. Eberflus revealed after the game that the receiver chose not to be on the sidelines with teammates during the action. He stayed home instead. Justin Fields said he called Claypool. Unfortunately, it didn’t lead to anything productive. Coaches weren’t forthcoming on why he was deactivated. The team later stated they asked him to stay home, contradicting Eberflus’ statement.

It’s become clearer than ever that Claypool is a wasted roster spot. For all of his talent, the receiver still suffers from inconsistency and maturity issues. The fact Chicago is reportedly shopping him ahead of the trade deadline says it all. They don’t want him around anymore.

Chase Claypool had his chances.

Yes, the coaching could’ve been better. Here’s the thing, good players find a way to be productive despite bad coaching. Look at what D.J. Moore did for years in Carolina. There are no excuses for Claypool’s performance since arriving last season. The Bears targeted him 43 times in 10 games. He came down with 18 catches for 191 yards and a touchdown. In case you aren’t certain, that is bad. Moore has 15 targets this season. He has 170 yards and a touchdown. Blaming the coaching is a copout. Claypool has sucked. End of story.

Whether they trade him or not is immaterial. It’s possible Chase Claypool has taken his final snaps with the Bears. For all of his talent, he’s been a much bigger liability to this team. The fact Fields had his best passing performance of the season without him on the active roster says it all. They feel they’re better without him, and now they have evidence. He will not be wearing a Bears uniform beyond 2023. The trade to acquire him will go down as one of the worst in franchise history.

At least they won’t let it linger too long.

The Claypool trade was worse than the Trubisky trade.

The revelations that he is on the block, probably has GM’s tripping over themselves to trade for this POS! Never forget pick #32 was traded for this ass-hat.
