The Bears appeared well on their way to burying the foul stench that has permeated through this organization since they last won a game almost one year ago. They were enjoying the results of Justin Fields’ career-best performance. Midway through the 3rd quarter, they were leading 28-7 over the winless Denver Broncos.
Suddenly, the Matt Eberflus Bears we have come to despise showed up. Denver outscored Chicago 24-0, including a 17-0 4th quarter.
Lost in the madness is the day Justin Fields was enjoying through three quarters. Fields completed his first 16 passes in the first half, which set a new record for the most consecutive attempts without an incomplete pass. The streak was snapped when he attempted a Hail Mary pass on the last play of the first half.
We saw movement in the pocket, well-designed plays, motion, and Fields making quick decisions. It was everything we had hoped to see when the season began. After scoring in the 3rd quarter, the Bears offense went dormant. Back to a conservative system, keeping Fields in the pocket and trying to drain the clock with a running game.

The rest is history. Denver stormed back and kicked a game-winning field goal with under two minutes to play.
The Eberflus Defense is a Horror Show
Since becoming the head coach, the defense we’ve seen under the Eberflus regime has been horrific. With the demoralizing defeat Sunday, the Bears record with Eberflus is now 3-18. During the current losing streak, which now stands at 14 games, the defense has allowed opposing teams 25 or more points. No team in NFL history had accomplished that dubious honor.
After being outscored yesterday 24-7 in the second half, opposing teams are destroying the Bears in the second half. In the 18 losses under this coaching staff, the Bears have allowed 275 points. They have been outscored 275-150 in the second half in those defeats.
To start this season, the defense has only two sacks and two takeaways.
New and Notes
The Bears have a short week and must hit the road for a Thursday Night game against the Washington Commanders.
Teven Jenkins can return to the lineup this week after starting the season on the injured list.
Not the fumble for TD and back breaking pick late??
Thinking the Bears were going to hold Denver to 7 points with a patch work secondary and no pass rush was silly.
They’re lucky they lost by 3.
Tell us more about scheme fit, coach. You know, why you always choose it over actual ability?
He went into prevent zone, played not to lose. You could see the shift in the defense in the 4th quarter
