Any self-respecting Chicago Bears fan knows the name Charles Woodson. While much of his career was spent with the Raiders, he had a long stint with the Green Bay Packers. During that time, he became a Defensive Player of the Year and won a Super Bowl. He was notorious for giving the Bears fits in every meeting with his coverage talents and ability to create chaos. His most infamous moment came when he stated after another Packers win that he and the defense knew quarterback Jay Cutler would throw them a few interceptions. It showed how little fear or respect that team had for Bears QB situation. One would think the same is true for Caleb Williams.
People might be surprised by Woodson’s stance this time around. He thinks the young quarterback is headed in the right direction. He played a good game against the Los Angeles Rams, and the Bears finally seem to have the proper game plan to help him. Given enough time, things should start clicking as the season progresses. It is about staying patient.
Caleb Williams is trending in the right direction.
It would be one thing if fans were saying it. Multiple former players have come out saying this has been the case for the past two weeks, Woodson being the latest. Don’t forget he arrived in 2006 with the Packers. Aaron Rodgers was far from a thing yet. He understood the value of being patient with a young quarterback. Rodgers took over a few years later and, within a year, had transformed into a superstar. Woodson also saw it happen with Derek Carr in Oakland. This idea of letting Caleb Williams grow doesn’t come from a random take based on a hunch. It comes from seeing it happen up close two different times. The Bears must stay the course, work to protect Williams, and keep investing in him moving forward.
A little off topic but as much as I hate the Peckers, I don’t know if I’d ever thought of Charles Woodson as an ALL TIME VILLAIN but I do understand what a drama queen Erik can be.
I prefer Rod, in a completely hetero way.
Caleb, Rome, Roschon, and I are trending in the right direction together, as male Lions, yet to be unleashed, here, there, and everywhere. Just hear us roar!
