The Chicago Bears are set to face the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday in the second to last game of the 2023 season. Now, let me share my three bold predictions for the upcoming game.
Justin Fields will impress not just the Bears front office but the Falcons
If the Bears decide to part ways with Justin Fields in the off-season, it’s widely speculated that his most likely destination would be Atlanta. This choice makes sense due to it being his hometown, the Falcons ongoing search for a franchise quarterback, and the potential mutual benefit of a trade. Considering these circumstances, it’s anticipated that Fields will approach the upcoming game with added motivation to impress not only the Bears but also the Falcons front office. I can see him delivering a standout performance, showcasing his skills both in passing and running. While it might be challenging to surpass his performances against the Broncos and Commanders, this week presents a great opportunity for him to potentially make this his best game of the season.
The Bears will win by double digits
The Falcons performance has been inconsistent, and when considering their overall performance this season, they don’t appear to be heading in the right direction. The Bears, on the other hand, have a rapidly rising defense that can create turnovers. Additionally, the Falcons starting quarterback, Taylor Heinicke, is listed on the injury report, raising the possibility of their backup even starting. Given these factors and the Bears being at home, it seems likely that they will be able to take care of business this week.
Jaylon Johnson comes away with 2 more interceptions
I am not sure whether this prediction is bold since Jaylon Johnson has already achieved two interceptions in a game this season. But regardless of who plays as the Falcons quarterback this week, Johnson will secure his fifth and sixth interceptions of the season, with the hope that one of them results in a pick-six.

My prediction: If Justin Fields has a big game this week AND has a better than average game next week which results in the Bears beating the Packers, Poles will retain both Eberflus and Fields. Getsy will be jettisoned and a new OC will arrive that has some level of history with running quarterbacks. Poles will try Fields for at least another year after that and keep him if there is solid improvement in his role in the offense, whatever it exactly is. Also my prediction: If Fields shits the bed against the Falcons this week AND has a poor… Read more »
Fields can’t match either the Washington or Denver games. All of his TD passes in those two games were to DJ Moore, Cole Kmet and Khalil Herbert. Without Moore and Kmet, he doesn’t have developed targets who can get open in his receiver ranks.
The Bears running backs are not developed to receive the way other offenses are and Kmet (nor Moore) don’t have developed back ups.
Without receivers, neither starting nor backup quarterbacks have anywhere to throw.
Maybe Dave’s theory of Tyler Scott will come to fruition, otherwise, I favor unicorns.
I see this as a low-scoring defensive slugfest. I think the Bears find a way to win by 3
I can’t see Fields having a great performance with Moore and Kmet banged up. I could see RoJo having a rushing and receiving touchdown.
