On Sunday, the Chicago Bears secured their fifth straight victory at home, defeating the Atlanta Falcons with a score of 37 to 17. Let’s dive into my three biggest takeaways of this win.
Justin Fields nailed his audition.
Justin Fields showed how electric he can be during yesterday’s game, so whether it was for the Bears, Falcons, or any other team in the league, it was a great audition nonetheless.
He completed 20 out of 32 passes for 268 yards, earning a 99.5 passer rating and scoring 1 touchdown. Additionally, he contributed 45 rushing yards on 11 rushes and scored another touchdown. Fields also didn’t have any turnovers, making it a nearly flawless performance and a compelling audition for the third-year quarterback. Ryan Poles will have a very tough decision regarding the quarterback position this off-season.
The Bears defense is legit.
It’s widely known that the Bears boast one of the NFL’s top 5 defenses since week 5. With a total of 22 interceptions, they lead the league in this category, having 16 interceptions in the last 6 games alone. If not for some late game collapses, this team could have been a playoff opponent that no team would want to face. It’s unfortunate but that is the NFL for you.

Ryan Poles 2023 Draft Class might be one for the record books.
Gervon Dexter Jr. had two sacks against Atlanta, while Tyrique Stevenson added two interceptions. Roschon Johnson had a productive performance as well, scoring a touchdown, and Darnell Wright did not allow any sacks.
Ryan Poles has nailed this draft class, with most rookies shining vs Atlanta. The Bears have locked in the number 1 overall pick in the 2024 draft due to the Carolina Panthers’ loss to the Jaguars. This positions Poles to potentially trade back and acquire additional talent, aligning with his commitment to building the team through the draft. And right now, you have to be very confident that he and his staff will add even more impactful rookies this off-season. The future is looking very bright.

If Poles is dumping Fields then I hope Poles doesn’t live to make that decision.
Sunday, versus the Falcons:
Roschon Johnson had 7 carries for 21 yards and a TD. He was targeted 3 times; and had 3 catches, for 38 yards.
WR, Tyler Scott was targeted 5 times, and had 2 catches for 15 yards.
Let’s see how they do versus the Packers, before we fit them for their Gold Hall of Fame jackets
All 3 very valid points Dave that not too many people can disagree with. (With the exception of TWTY and TGENA of course, but they don’t count).
The best reality TV there is. Next few months will be fascinating. It’s fun to be a bears fan again. FGB
@Dr Melhus I agree with you exactly. I think, at this point, we Bears fans need to jump on the narrative that Caleb Williams is the best football player to ever have graced the planet with his presence. I don’t think that’s true — I think he’s going to be a locker room cancer, and I don’t think he’s even that good of a player — but the belief that he’s the single solution to a franchise’s QB1 problem makes the ticket to pick him extraordinarily valuable. Let’s all coordinate on some good, old-fashioned disinformation and help Poles fleece some… Read more »
