KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chicago Bears, who limped home after a dreadful performance in Tampa last Sunday, just had one of the craziest weeks in the franchise’s history. Like, it was really wild.
The defensive coordinator, Alan Williams, resigned after leaving the team for “personal reasons” last week. This led to rampant speculation online, which were later clarified this morning to be “inappropriate behavior.” Justin Fields stood up for himself and seemingly criticized the coaches for his robotic and awful quarterback play. He then clarified he wasn’t calling out the coaches. Ryan Poles then addressed the media, seemingly needing to take control of the narrative. It’s Week 3. Braxton Jones went on IR. The Bears also cut and then re-signed Nathan Peterman within 24 hours. And they lost over $100K in lawncare equipment from Soldier Field.
What. A. Week.

Don’t worry, the news could still get worse. Their Week 3 matchup to attempt to dig out of their clusterfuck? The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs. Remember the last time Patrick Mahomes played against the team that passed him up, he and the Chiefs routed the Bears at Soldier Field 26-3. He infamously counted to 10 (his draft slot) after his first TD pass that day.
Not a fun way to try to get back on track for Chicago.
In the end, the Bears got absolutely demolished in every phase of the game, getting run out of Arrowhead Stadium in the first half itself.

Thoughts and Observations
1. Taylor Swift is in the house. She and Chiefs TE Travis Kelce are rumored to be seeing each other, and Swift is hanging out with Kelce’s mom in a suite at Arrowhead. Think that motivated Kelce?

2. This is one of the worst first halves I’ve ever seen, folks. The Chiefs are simply toying with the Bears on offense — Matt Nagy is pulling out trick plays. Patrick Mahomes is converting ridiculous throws. The Bears’ defense is lost for the third straight game. Jaylon Johnson is out for the game with a hamstring injury.
On offense, the Bears can’t do anything. Fields continues to not play well. Khalil Herbert with a bad fumble. The offensive line has been inconsistent, but the play calling and pre-snap identification seems to not line up with what the defense is showing.
Special teams is also lost — allowing big punt returns, not stopping punts before they roll into the end zone… you name it.
Every facet of the Bears’ organization is in shambles right now.

3. Former head coach Matt Nagy is loving this performance. It’s Chiefs 31, Bears 0 with a minute left in the first half. I’ll bet he feels some redemption from this game.

4. There’s no way anyone in the organization can feel safe right now. It’s simply a performance the Bears could not afford after the week they had. Matt Eberflus’ team is completely lost and rudderless. This screams changes are needed.

5. Thirty-four to nothing at halftime. Justin Fields threw a dime 40 yards downfield that was dropped by DJ Moore. And on the next play, he threw a brutal interception that set KC up in Bears territory. It’s simply that kind of day for the Bears. It’s been that kind of calendar year for the Bears, to be honest.
6. Spoiler, it hasn’t gotten much better in the second half. Fields is 5/13 for 39 yards and an INT close to the end of the third quarter. He looks TERRIBLE. Meanwhile, the Chiefs, up 41-0, have inserted Blaine Gabbert into the game. Mahomes gets to take a quarter off.
This is where we are.

7. Good for Jack Sanborn, getting an interception off Gabbert. He’s still playing hard, for whatever it’s worth. First takeaway of the season comes in garbage time in Week 3, down 41-0.
8. To add more injury to insult, Justin Fields got hurt on a 3rd and goal escape to the 3-yard line. The nightmare doesn’t end.
True to form, Matt Eberflus kicks a field goal. 41-3 Chiefs.
9. Coaching staff has to go. QB has to go. Front office … we’ll see. But it’s bad. I don’t know what to tell you, folks. Halas Hall will be a trainwreck yet again this week. 14 more weeks of this shit.
10. Chicago hosts the woeful Denver Broncos next weekend at Soldier Field. Both teams are a disaster, but it truly feels like an inexcusable game to lose for Chicago. Almost like the Chargers game in 2019 … which they lost. Bears must win, which means they will lose and keep the tire fire burning.
Early prediction: Broncos 16, Bears 13.
Fire Poles and Eberflus now. Bench Fields and start Bagent. Don’t wait. The future is now.
Whatever you do – don’t let Poles make any more trades. Get these guys out now.
A starting QB with 50 yards passing with 5 minutes left in a game. Let that sink in. FIFTY YARDS. But wait, that’s right, u all said he was gona be Josh Allen so I’m sure that’s coming 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Also, THANK GOD Flus called the plays!!! LOLOL
