The Chicago Blackhawks’ Ryan Hartman has been a great replacement for Andrew Shaw in the scoring department and now he’s showing his tough side. Last night he registered his first NHL regular season fight.
Hartman took exception to Edmonton Oilers’ Eric Gryba hit on teammate Tanner Kero. Gryba has almost fifty pounds on him but that didn’t stop him from immediately reacting to the play.
Gryba threw Hartman around early but neither player got that many shots in, so I would score the fight even. These are the fights that the NHL needs to allow. They’re two willing combatants who fought in the heat of the moment. Hartman even said his decision to fight was a “no-brainer.”
