Cubs Might Have Another Important Player Out with Injury

-

This road trip keeps getting worse. The Cubs got MRI results back for Justin Steele and are seeking a second opinion on the pitcher’s left elbow and now another important player might be out with an injury/ Seiya Suzuki was lifted from Saturday night’s game against the Dodgers in the fifth inning.

With two runners on and two outs Miguel Amaya stepped up to the plate from the on-deck circle, which immediately raised a red flag in the Cubs TV booth as Suzuki was scheduled to hit next. Nothing really seemed wrong in Suzuki’s previous two plate appearances against Dodgers rookie Roki Sasaki.

The Cubs designated hitter grounded out in the first and then hit a line drive in the third inning.

Following the top of the fifth inning, the Cubs TV broadcast said that Suzuki left the game because of a wrist issue. Apparently the wrist has been a problem for Suzuki since last week, jamming it against the Athletics.

Entering Saturday’s game Suzuki had a slash line of .302/.400/.556, with four home runs.
