Bears Projected To Shake Up First Round With Major Draft Splash

-

In the latest episode of Sports Mockery’s Chicago Bears show, the BFR Podcast, Ficky and I did our first live mock draft, and it turned out to be one of our most fun episodes yet. Before we dive into the recap, you can watch the full episode on YouTube here.

During one of the mock drafts on the show, we made a bold move—trading up with the Jacksonville Jaguars to the 5th overall pick in order to select Michigan defensive lineman Mason Graham. The trade sent the 10th overall pick, a 2025 third-rounder (No. 72), and a 2025 fifth-rounder (No. 148) to Jacksonville in exchange for the 5th pick.

It’s not a trade many expect to happen, but Bears content creator Ficky strongly supported it. He said,

“I’d do this in a heartbeat. Graham is an elite prospect and would improve this defense tremendously.”

Graham is considered the 4th overall prospect on many big boards. At 6’4″ and over 300 pounds, he fits the mold of an ideal three-technique in Dennis Allen’s defense. There’s also some buzz suggesting the Bears may value interior defensive line help more than an edge rusher in the first round.

Can’t Justify The Cost

Personally, while I think it’s a solid move, I’m leaning toward staying put at No. 10 and taking the best player available. I’d rather hold onto those picks than make a jump like that—especially since I’m not convinced the package we offered would actually be enough to get to No. 5. That said, based on trade value charts, it’s within range of what similar deals have looked like in the past.

Still, I’m not sure Graham is worth moving up for.
