The Chicago Bears haven’t won a Super Bowl since 1985 and haven’t been to one since 2006. This organization is not one anybody should think has a reasonable chance of making a run, if only because history speaks for itself. That is why the latest odds released by ESPN didn’t register much in the local zipcodes. Unsurprisingly, heavy hitters like Philadelphia, Kansas City, Baltimore, Buffalo, and Detroit made up the top teams with the best odds. Washington got a solid placement after their storybook run to the AFC championship at 20-1 odds.
Where it gets wild is seeing the Bears sit at 40-1 alongside the Denver Broncos, the same team that just made the playoffs this past season. That is better than Miami, Seattle, Dallas, and Pittsburgh, who all have reached the postseason more recently than Chicago. Oddsmakers don’t seem to care. Whatever the Bears have done going into this off-season has them optimistic about the months to come.

The Chicago Bears’ coaching moves may have moved the needle.
For the first time, it felt like the franchise landed one of the true top candidates on the market. Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson was somebody every team wanted, but in the end, he chose them. The idea of pairing his offensive wizardry with a talented quarterback like Caleb Williams has people thinking big. If the Chicago Bears can put together a productive off-season and plug most of their pressing needs, this team has shown it can compete with playoff teams. One thing is certain. You might as well throw down some money on those odds right now. Crazier things have happened in the NFL.
The Bears have never won a title coming out of nowhere. Each of their wins was as a team that was already established or got good the year before. Going from out of the playoffs for most of the past decade to winning a championship would be something to behold.

This is going to be a very interesting year in the NFC North, and it is the one season where it is very possible, we actually see all 4 NFC North Teams reach the playoffs. Chicago missed the playoffs and lost 3, if not 4 games that were directly tied to coaching decisions and coaching blunders. Regardless of all else, if the current roster had that opportunity with the worst coaching decisions in the NFL, then adding those wins back in to their win column supports the idea they can make the playoffs with the improved coaching additions alone. So you’re saying there’s a chance??? Haha
The Bears are 40-1… there’s 32 teams. That means their odds are slightly worse than if they were just an average NFL team. That’s hardly the ringing endorsement that Lambert is making it out to be.
So the top 15 teams are the playoff teams and San Fran, and the Bears are at the top of the list for the teams that remain. Curious to see how those odds shift after FA and the draft.
Vegas is about right. I’d say 50-1.
