Unexpected Mentor? NFL Insider Links Bears to Veteran QB for Caleb Williams

-

The NFL offseason is full of speculation. Rumors spread, and players are linked to various teams. It can be difficult to separate legitimate possibilities from pure speculation. However, according to NFL insider Courtney Cronin, there’s one player the Bears shouldn’t completely rule out—and it might shock most fans.

Cronin discussed the possibility of Aaron Rodgers signing with Chicago on ESPN 1000, suggesting that as free agency approaches, it shouldn’t be dismissed entirely.

“There’s logic in place that shows you it would make sense for someone like Caleb Williams. You have a four-time MVP in the room—someone who, no matter who your quarterback coach is or who else is in the room, will have an answer for everything and can help develop you into the franchise player you want to be. You explore the idea… I don’t think it can be ruled out completely.”

Personally, while I respect Courtney as one of the best in the business, I don’t see this happening—ever. To her credit, she also acknowledged that the McCaskeys would likely never allow it. Rodgers’ infamous “I own you” comments and his signature discount double-check celebration are still fresh in the minds of the Bears organization and its fans. If you polled 10 Bears fans, nine would probably laugh at the mere suggestion.

Beyond that, the baggage Rodgers brings would be a major issue. If Caleb Williams struggled early on, wouldn’t there be immediate pressure to turn to a four-time MVP? The distractions alone make this idea a non-starter.

Yes, it’s the offseason, and every possibility—no matter how far-fetched—gets discussed. But this is one scenario that simply won’t happen.

Dr Melhaus. I agree with your take, especially regarding T Gena. He takes a deep dive and suggest she’s a hack, but honestly, he should take a deep dive and force himself to respond after the Bears have a nice victory because over the last several years I have never seen him pop up on the threads, not even once after the Bears won. Either the day of , or the day after because he doesn’t know what to do with himself or how to deal with it. He’s just happy with being Mr. Gloom and Doo depression, and never… Read more »

To be fair to her: (1) she got back, and (2) she got a rack too.
What is her ethno-religious background? Is she married? She must have connections. Otherwise, she ain’t no good, not at all.

One thing is clear, Matt Leflouer doesn’t miss him changing every play he calls into a pass to Adams. To even bring up his numbers as better than Caleb’s is just stupid. Anyone watch him last year and see anything that resembles a qb that can take to the playoffs? He’s too self absorbed to be coached as the last years in Green Bay showed.

I listened to her entire take on this. She spends 5 minutes talking about all sort of things that she says you cannot just ignore. And most of her points were flimsy as all crap is. There’s no sure fire starter job for him at age 41. True, but is there an ego of Grand Canyon size? At the very end, she says there’s no way the bears would consider this with his entire history of being a deusche. It’s someone invited to talk on a podcast so it doesn’t have to be promoted as anything that’s remotely possible. Courtney… Read more »

@Dr. Melhus —

Okay Doc — I’ll bite.

But first…

Point to three actual “news items” Ms. Cronin has given us in her less than illustrious 12-year career.

You won’t find much breaking on the set of “Around the Horn” — nor much left for Colin Kaepernick’s mother upon which to comment.

But take your time. Maybe you’ll surprise us — and find something original and accurate.

Good luck!
