The Chicago Bears are preparing their work for what will be a crucial off-season. GM Ryan Poles and new head coach Ben Johnson must work to bolster key areas of the roster that help the team back from greater accomplishments in 2024. Expectations are most of that time will be spent on the trenches. From there, the intrigue shifts to how the 2025 schedule could play out. They know the teams they’re going to play. It includes the NFC North, AFC North, NFC East, San Francisco 49ers, and Las Vegas Raiders. Adam Schefter of ESPN doesn’t know how the entire Bears schedule will play out, but the ESPN insider does have a good idea of what their opener will be.
He appeared on The Pat McAfee Show to discuss the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles. Everybody knows the champs always open the following season with the first game of the year. People are curious about who the Eagles could face on opening night. Schefter broke it down. There are the divisional opponents, as well as other NFC contenders like Detroit and Los Angeles. However, he seems convinced the Bears are the team to watch.
The Chicago Bears are always a reliable draw.
Their fanbase is one of the largest in the NFL. Whether the team is good or bad, fans always tune in to watch them. The Chicago Bears have a young, exciting new head coach in Ben Johnson. People will be eager to see him and quarterback Caleb Williams on the field for the first time. Philadelphia has its own rabid fanbase as well. There is no question an opener between these two teams would generate big ratings. The one concern for the NFL is whether they can be guaranteed the game will at least be competitive. Chicago went 5-12 this past season. The Eagles just got done hammering the NFL’s best throughout the playoffs. They don’t want a potential blowout. It is possible they may wait on any decision until they see what the Bears do in March and April.
Nurse Sally, who can’t spell now? Or maybe you can explain what “a good doss of realism” is. At least I can spell dose.
I never knew a construction foreman that I liked or respected. Never knew one who really cared about any worker’s wellness unless they were his friends, family, or union partners. I worked building houses, sidewalks, swimming pools, and roads. Include plenty of demolitions as well. Schefter and Erik, don’t you care about sensitive Hate 30’s feelings and well-being?
Better start with the obvious first loss rather than with an expected first win against a much easier opponent. Sometimes a good doss of realism rather than naive idealism is the best way to understand the rest of the season so to know what is to be done. You fanatics would not want to be misled again, well, would you? Shoot for 10-7 but expect 7-10. You will feel better and less than fooled in the long run.
Opening day is the least of the Bears problems when it comes to next years schedule. The road portion is just the NFL giving the Bears a huge middle finger: Philly, Wash, Baltimore, Cincy, 49ers, Raiders. Not to mention at Det, Minny and GB. They’re seriously looking at being 1-8 or 2-7 on road.
Sure Lambert, spell out some doom to stem the tide of euphoria over all the coaches coming here. When I worked construction, and I was a foreman and somebody screwed up, I used to use that trick all the time.. I’d get the guy so it’s just me and him and nobody else cause I didn’t want to embarrass him publicly. I’d bring him down discussing whatever the mistake was and how to fix it. Then I’d bring him back up right away, praising all the good things he did, and how he would help us going forward. I see… Read more »
