Losing consistently has a bad way of warping the minds of young athletes. When it happens so often, you learn to accept it. That is a dangerous way to live out your career. Kyler Gordon has endured some of the worst Chicago Bears football in franchise history. He was part of their longest losing streak ever (14 games) and is now part of their second-longest (9 games), which still isn’t over. The young cornerback came from a successful program at Washington, known for its winning tradition.
What he’s dealt with over the past three years has made him realize how daunting it can be to maintain your edge in tough times. Gordon spoke to Jason Lieser of the Chicago Sun-Times about the Bears’ bleak trudge to the finish line this season. He sounded like somebody who’d much rather be on another team.
“I’m so young, and this is the most athletic I’m ever going to be, and it’s disappointing to have your prime years be like this,” cornerback Kyler Gordon told the Sun-Times. “I’m still in good spirits. I’m thankful I’m still here. But definitely disappointed.”
Kyler Gordon faces a tough internal challenge.
There are no easy fixes for the Bears’ problems. They need a complete revamping of their leadership. A new coaching staff will be hired sometime in the next two months. Their assessment of the roster could end up causing a ripple effect of changes. While Kyler Gordon might’ve been a 2nd round pick and is a good player, his place in the pecking order is far from secure. Health has been an ongoing issue for him at times, and he hasn’t forced a turnover in a long time. Gordon has tremendous versatility and still has so much room to grow. However, it seems the losing is chipping away at his ability to focus.
Next season will be decisive for him as he prepares for his all-important push for a second contract. His development is crucial for the Bears, as Tyrique Stevenson took a massive step back this season. Having two dependable corners would at least keep the secondary strong as the team aims to reshape the defense.

The entire team is suffering from PTSD and get some help from the new GM.
Kyler might help get some wins if he spent less time in the traing room and more on the field. I am not sure that many teams will be interested in him in free agency based on his time on the field.
Hocus Pocus by Focus: it must be holiday spirit.
Quick parse check: “I’m thankful I’m still here” does not equal “I want out of here”.
Aside from that, he’s disappointed. Personally, if a player isn’t disappointed about losing, then that’s when they should be traded or shown the door. Other than that, no news here.
@Sam stole my thunder. How come the 2 2nd round picks that are always hurt seem to always have a boo hoo comment or X (whatever the hell you call that now). Ive never seen a Bears team full of powder puffs. If you dont want to be a Bear then dont let the door hit you where the good lord split you.
