The Bears enter week 16 with a 4-10 record following a loss to the Minnesota Vikings. This week, they take on the 12-2 Detroit Lions. Here are my three bold predictions for this matchup.
Caleb Williams throws for over 275 yards.
Caleb Williams feels long overdue for a 300-yard passing performance, as it’s been a while since he last reached that milestone. The Lions present an appealing matchup for him, given their numerous injuries on defense. This game has the potential to become a high-scoring shootout, though that largely depends on whether the Bears can keep pace with Detroit, which remains relatively healthy on offense despite losing running back David Montgomery.
Jared Goff avoids throwing an interception.
Jared Goff has been efficient this season, boasting 30 touchdown passes against just 10 interceptions. Historically, Chicago has had a knack for forcing him into mistakes, but this year has been different. While he came close to an interception in their first meeting, Goff ultimately protected the football. I believe he’ll end the season series against the Bears without throwing a single pick.
Rome Odunze records 100+ receiving yards.
Rome Odunze has been impressive in his rookie campaign, with 47 receptions for 624 yards and three touchdowns. Considering he dealt with Shane Waldron’s offensive struggles for the first nine games, his numbers are even more impressive. With Detroit’s defense significantly weakened by injuries, Caleb Williams could rely heavily on Odunze, potentially leading to the best game of his young career at home against the Lions.

Score Prediction:
Lions 31, Bears 27
Not sure how Caleb is going to throw for 250+ behind an OL that has Prior at RG, Braxton coming off a concussion and LT, and ??? at LG with Teven out, but I hope it happens, and he/they keep the sacks under 1 a quarter.
They don’t call it garbage time when Caleb plays, they just call it the second half. Good news is if the game is within reach on the last drive or in OT he goes back to doing his first half Caleb impression so we don’t have to worry about hurting our draft position. He’s so considerate.
275 yards, 200 of them in garbage time.
Only a Bear 4-pt loss? Just like the film: It Could Happen to You. I am going to miss Monty not playing!! He is my type of Bear and certainly one of our honorary Male Lions on SM. He ravages the hyenas too but refuses to eat them even if hungry.
They don’t gave the ability to run a full offense and score points. Their only option is to run the ball effectively in early downs so that max protect play action can get them yards downfield against a very weak secondary. But don’t think that Detroits depleated front 7 can be stopped by a bad OILine.
