Three Bold Predictions: Bears vs. 49ers

The Bears enter week 14 with a 4-8 record following a heartbreaking loss against the Detroit Lions. This week, they’ll be in the 3:25 window as they take on the 5-7 San Francisco 49ers. Here are my three bold predictions for this matchup.

Caleb Williams tops 300 yards.

The Bears’ rookie quarterback has already proven his ability to deliver big passing performances, racking up three 300-yard games this season. I anticipate he’ll add another to his impressive rookie season. With San Francisco’s defense likely missing Nick Bosa, Williams should have more time to operate in the pocket. However, it’s outside the pocket where he could create the most explosive plays.

Thomas Brown out-coaches Kyle Shanahan.

I don’t have a legitimate reason for why this will happen — call it faith in Brown. The 49ers, led by Shanahan, are struggling after losing key players like Christian McCaffrey to injury. They’re currently last in their division with slim playoff hopes. On the other hand, I believe the “interim coach bump” will work in Brown’s favor, with Bears players likely juiced to play under their new interim head coach.

Jack Sanborn interception.

This is one of my favorite bold predictions of the season. I have a feeling this is the game where Sanborn makes a big play. He’s come close a few times this season, and I think this time he either gets a tipped pass or reads Brock Purdy perfectly for a big interception. Does Sanborn get a lot of snaps? No. But when he’s on the field, he makes them count — and I believe this week will be no exception.
