The Bears enter week 11 with a 4-6 record following a heartbreaking loss against the Green Bay Packers. This week, they’ll be in the noon window as they take on the 8-2 Minnesota Vikings. Here are my three bold predictions for this matchup.
Tory Taylor fake punt.
I’m not sure why, but I have a feeling this fake punt might happen this week. I’m not even predicting whether they’ll pull it off, but the Bears seem to be playing with house money right now. At 4-6, they can afford to take these kinds of risks.
Caleb Williams rushing TD.
New Bears offensive coordinator Thomas Brown has been encouraging Caleb Williams to use his legs more decisively, which paid off last week against Green Bay when Williams racked up impressive runs. However, this week’s matchup against Minnesota presents a tougher challenge, as they’re one of the NFL’s best at containing scrambles. Even so, I can see Williams channeling his inner Jameis Winston and running one in at the goal line.

You know what? I was going to pick against the Bears again this week—would’ve been the third week in a row. But I’ve changed my mind. Sure, everything points to the Vikings winning, but I have a feeling we’ll get a Caleb Williams moment that not even Matt Eberflus can mess up.

Bears 24 Vikings 21
The Bears are in a no-lose situation. If they win, great. If they lose, then another red strike against Flus et. al., and a higher draft pick. If a tie, not going to happen, but a half-win.
If they can handle the blitz enough, it should leave some room for some big plays. I would keep Caleb on the move to buy him time and allow him some deep shots today. That includes play action. Minnesota’s DBs are below average in the passing game. Playing with house money at this point. Let her rip.
Everybody knows the blitz is coming. All hands on deck. Unlike the blitz heavy debacle in Houston the offense will have a game plan this time.
No prediction on the outcome but at least 20 pts on the board and a healthy qb1 at the end of the game would be encouraging.
Dave: Wouldn’t mind a Bears upset here. But I think the best result, for the long term health and benefit of the team, would be for Caleb to lead a go-ahead drive, leaving maybe 20 seconds on the clock, and somehow Flus’s defense/coaching finds a way to lose the game. Either that, or a massive blowout win by the Bears, showing they can slice up Minnesota’s D and laugh at blitzes. Not betting on the latter, ….
