Caleb Williams Latest Comments Suggest Rising Tension With DJ Moore

-

DJ Moore has been under fire recently, and this attention goes back to when the Bears were deciding whether to stick with Justin Fields in the off-season. At that time, Moore openly supported Fields, stating that he hoped the Bears would keep him. However, now midway through the 2024 season, new quarterback Caleb Williams is feeling the pressure to establish a strong connection with Moore. When asked on Wednesday about his rapport with Moore, here’s what Williams had to say:

“It’s not in a place where we would like it. Both of us, it’s frustrating. You’ve got a guy so special and not being able to connect and hit on certain passes is frustrating for myself and frustrating for him.”

The Bears are feeling the pressure, and the outside criticism seems to be affecting the team, especially in the locker room. DJ Moore raised some eyebrows last week against the Cardinals when he removed himself from a play, claiming it was due to an ankle injury he sustained mid-play and stepping out of bounds. Despite his explanation, Moore’s body language and recent comments have fueled speculation that his relationship with quarterback Caleb Williams may be strained. You can watch Moore’s comments here, but his tone and demeanor come across as disengaged, almost like he’s checked out. Although Moore said Williams wasn’t bothered by him walking off, it’s doubtful that many people will buy that.

Actions speak louder than words.

Moore also made a telling remark, saying, “Somebody’s gotta score some touchdowns,” which only adds pressure to the Bears offense, even though he’s not wrong. When looking at each of Moore’s incidents this season, none seem serious on their own, and nothing directly suggests an issue with Williams. However, look at them all together, they start to hint that something could seriously be off.

DJ Moore in 2024 through 8 games: 60 targets. 37 receptions, 374 yards, and 3 TD.

The clocking is ticking.

While it may not be a breaking point yet, there is legitimate cause for concern around two vital players in the Bears offense. Some media members have even suggested the Bears consider trading Moore, though that seems a bit drastic. Moore recently signed a long-term contract and has voiced his commitment to staying in Chicago. But at some point, his actions will need to back up his words.

I hope the Steelers defeat the Commanders, but I expect Daniels to have a decent game if he is going to win Rookie of the Year on Offense. I hope Fields gets into the game in some capacity too.

These guys get paid to be football players, not public speakers and orators, and definitely not their job description to have every word they say transcribed and then psychoanalyzed

I have never really liked QBs or WRs for most of my life, either on or off the field. So I do not feel comfortable taking sides here.
