New England Patriots Shopping Key Name Who Screams Bears

-

The Chicago Bears have nine days until the trade deadline on November 5th. Thus far, they haven’t made any moves. Even so, it sounds like there are multiple possibilities in play. Khalil Herbert, Nate Davis, Larry Borom, and Dominique Robinson have all been mentioned as candidates to move elsewhere. At the same time, there remains a belief GM Ryan Poles could be looking for an upgrade for his roster as it angles for a playoff spot. It comes down to if the right player is available at the right price. Enter the New England Patriots.

Most fans and media have discussed either pass rushers or interior offensive linemen as the Bears’ areas of focus. However, Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune recently mentioned that a run-stopping defensive tackle is also on the list. Remember, their run defense struggled in the first five games, allowing over 100 yards in four of them. Adding somebody who can help plug up the middle makes sense. According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Patriots are making one notable name available who can fix that problem.

“I’ve been told to keep an eye on the Patriots — who will listen to any proposal — with run-stuffing interior defensive lineman Davon Godchaux and ex-Niners wide receiver Kendrick Bourne among the possible targets.”

The New England Patriots would be doing the Bears a huge favor.

Godchaux has consistently been one of the better run-defending defensive tackles in the NFL for years. He currently ranks #1 in run stops this season with 19. He has ranked in the top 20 in three of the last five seasons. The Patriots had a top-10 run defense in both 2022 and 2023. Godchaux was a big part of that. Adding him would make a ton of sense for the Bears. Remember, five of their remaining opponents, including the Lions and Packers, all rank in the top seven for rushing yards per game. Stopping them won’t be easy.

Godchaux would make that job considerably easier. He is 29 years old and has an affordable contract at just over $9.6 million this season. He just signed a two-year extension with the New England Patriots, meaning the Bears would have control of his rights through 2026 were they to trade for him. The likely price tag would be somewhere around a 5th or 6th round pick. If the Bears feel their run defense does indeed require some reinforcement, they won’t do much better than Godchaux.

Weak attack? Just trying to help you. You need serious help. You’re so disillusioned with life. Live your life , don’t fantasize about others. Delusions of grandeur isnt helping you.

I’ve made $84,000 so far this month working online and I’m a full time student. I’m using an online business opportunity I heard about and I’ve made such great money. It’s really user friendly and I’m just so happy that I found out about it. The potential with this is endless.

@Hate 30 IQ Out of respect for Dr. Melhus, I shall not respond to your weak attack until after the game. But expect a reprisal that is disproportional, even under international law.

No Akiem Hicks? Then get me Abdul Carter in the draft. ASAP! Someone get Poles out of his narrow draft box too. Man in the Box by Alice in Chains! We are getting primed for this nasty game.

@Dr.Sallie: Strongly agree. Hicks was a dominant player. The difference between the Bears defense when he was on the field and not on the field was huge. Matt LaFleur (Packers HC) said that there were a bunch of running plays on their play sheet that they just would not run if Hicks was in the game.

Would love to see another version of that on the Bears D this year.
