Aaron Rodgers isn’t having a good time right now. Last season was a nightmare when he tore his Achilles just a few plays into his first year with the New York Jets. This time was supposed to be different. He was finally healthy, and the team seemed to have the necessary pieces to make a run. Seven weeks later, the team is 2-5, the head coach was fired, and Rodgers might be having the worst season of his career. If that weren’t bad enough, his humiliation went a step further when cameras caught him Sunday night appearing to pick his nose and then eating it.
As crazy as it sounds, that entire sequence might not be the worst part. That moment came on the Pat McAfee Show, where they actually reviewed the entire clip, and he had to defend himself. Here is what Rodgers had to say.
“I’ve been alerted to this and, actually, in the moment, I was thinking, ‘Man, I hope the camera isn’t on me right now.’ It actually kind of looks like it. I’ve actually never eaten my boogers, that’s one thing I’m very proud of. It’s a tough look to try and defend, because that video, it’s a little incriminating.”
Aaron Rodgers is living in his own personal hell.
It is hard to believe just three years ago, he was sitting upon the NFL thrown. He’d won his fourth MVP and was going into the playoffs with homefield advantage. From that point, he missed the playoffs in 2022, got traded to New York, tore his Achilles, helped get his head coach fired, got off to the worst start of his career, and topped it off with a nose-picking incident millions of people saw on live television. Humiliation doesn’t seem like a strong enough word to cover that. Bears fans are probably howling with joy, having endured the torture he put them through for over a decade. It appears there is a little karmic justice in the world. The worst part for him is the season isn’t even half over. Things could get even worse.
Aaron Rodgers is fighting for his legacy at this point. Forget that elusive second ring. It seems to be a fight he’s losing.
