His stat line—23 of 29 for 226 yards, four touchdowns, and just one interception—earned him Pro Football Focus’ highest quarterback grade for the week. He led the Bears to a convincing 35-16 victory, keeping drives alive with his arm and legs and adding 56 rushing yards on key plays.
Perhaps the most encouraging aspect of Williams’ rise is his attitude. Despite his breakout performances, Williams remains his own most prominent critic. After the Jaguars game, he spoke about his frustration with the one interception, noting that he expects more from himself. This mindset of never being satisfied is precisely what the Bears need as they look to build a winning culture around their young quarterback.

Again, I want to remind you all that TWTY’s first choice for the Bears was to draft Stroud in ’23 with the #1 pick. Not a terrible choice, but then no Moore, no Wright, no Stevenson, no #1 overall pick in 2024, and no second in 2025 from the Panthers. And you best be damn sure that I won’t let that meatball forget it.
Notice the quantitative indicators supposedly representing “growth” in the article, but as I pointed out here many months ago, “development” is indicated by more qualitative or contextual levels or stages not as easily measured or assessed by use of mere numbers or stats.
CW is living up to expectations. The arm was never in question and his smarts are evident in that he learns fast. He landed on an already good team which most #1’s don’t get the benefit of. Would Daniels or Maye be doing as well in Chicago? I think so.
The real test begins Nov 17 and continues to season end. If the NFC North games don’t end up resembling the visit to Houston that’s progress.
