Anticipation for the Chicago Bears season opener is understandably off the charts. Fans are anxious to see Caleb Williams, the #1 overall pick in the draft, suit up for the first time. It is the start of a long journey that many hope leads to widespread success. There is also the fact this team finished 4-0 in the preseason, categorized by three massive beatdowns of three playoff teams from last season. While preseason games never tell the real story, it was notable that the depth and talent of this roster have gotten much better.
So yeah, excitement is already at a fever pitch. It seems the Bears wanted to spring something extra on the festivities. It was revealed they planned to honor Steve McMichael’s enshrinement in the Hall of Fame during the game. His wife, Misty, will receive a ring. However, there is an unexpected twist. According to Mark Grote of 670 The Score, McMichael himself could be at the game in person despite his ongoing battle with ALS.
McMichael remains a Chicago Bears legend.
Keep in mind that the Hall of Fame defensive tackle has been bedridden for many months. The only thing he can move at this point is his eyes. ALS patients tend to be delicate because of their embattled immune system. So, moving him from his home to Soldier Field would be a major logistical challenge. It is certainly a testament to McMichael the person. The fact he likely made it clear he wants to be present for the ceremony tells you how much the moment means to him. He’s always bled blue and orange. There isn’t much time left. It is probable this is his last chance to soak in a moment at Soldier Field. Withered body or not, he will be there. Credit to the Chicago Bears for investing the necessary resources to make it happen.
I’m with you Dr. Melhus. Something seriously wrong with sally. Hallucinations, delusions of grandeur, Something has gone haywire in his head…
Dr. Sallie: If you stopped taking the pills, you should get back on them ASAP. If you started, then please stop. My wife was complaining even into the 3rd quarter. I reminded her of the ’85 Bears, who opened their season going down 28-0 to the Buccaneers, and came back to win the game. And then we all know what happened (to both ’85 and ’24 Bears). My question is this: Anyone have these on their bingo card? First Bears TD of the season scored by: Jonathan Owens. Second TD of the season scored by: Tyrique Stevenson. First TD of… Read more »
If it was not for Mrs. McCaskey and Mongo, I would not have used my power to turn the game around just before half. Look at my comment (#18 and the exact time–6hr difference in an earlier thread delivered at half time, The Tony Romo thread). Then look at the real times for the Bears plays–a very strange comeback game to say the least. I stated I would do what I could. But you male hyenas deserved the first half degradation and fright! If you want to win against the Texans, then you better be nice to us male lions!
Can our IOL block a DT? Our OL is still our biggest weakness. Until the OL is a strength, the Bears will not be a playoff team.
Obviously the OL is still subpar. Besides continually getting beat by DL, just saw Shelton help triple team Simmons on 3rd down allowing the LB to come in untouched to sack Caleb.
The Bears are NOT a playoff team. Totally unprepared.
Bad coaching and lousy game plan.
