During Saturday’s practice, Bears superstar edge rusher Montez Sweat was kicked out of a drill for making contact with rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. This incident adds to a couple occasions where Sweat has gone too far in practice, accidentally making contact with the quarterback.
One of the more surprising reactions to Montez Sweat being kicked out of the drill came from veteran wide receiver Keenan Allen. Allen, who was nearby, shouted towards Bears head coach Matt Eberflus and Sweat, “That’s right, get him out of here.”
“That’s right, get him out of here.”
Though his tone was playful, it seems Keenan was serious. Williams is crucial to the offense and Allen’s own performance in 2024. Allen after all is looking for a big pay day. It’s noteworthy that Allen held Sweat accountable, reinforcing the golden rule in practice: never touch the quarterback.

Our QB don’t need no thumb.
Yeah, cause that’s what the Bears need. A DE swiping at the QB’s arm/hand in practice. Hopefully he breaks his finger or thumb. That would be awesome, right?
The last thing we need right now is a DE that is always hitting the QB. Sweat is reckless and a loose cannon. Honestly, I’m not sure why he is still on the team. Get DomRom in there. He never hits the QB. Go sports!
