Breakout Players at Bears Training Camp

-

The Chicago Bears have completed seven training camp practices, including two with pads. Saturday’s session was the longest, lasting over two hours. With these practices now finished, there is enough data and film to evaluate which players are excelling and which are struggling. Unlike recent years, the Bears now have a talented roster, leading to increased competition. This means some players cannot afford to have a poor camp this year. Let’s start by looking at the breakout players so far in the Bears’ training camp.

Tyler Scott

Tyler Scott has been outstanding in his second training camp with Chicago, quickly becoming a favorite target for quarterback Caleb Williams. Despite a challenging rookie year, Scott’s current performance suggests that if he maintains this level of play into the regular season, the Bears will have impressive depth at the wide receiver position.

Montez Sweat

Despite being removed from a drill for hitting the quarterback, Sweat has been performing at a Khalil Mack-like level. He is unstoppable and fully aware of it. If he can avoid making contact with the quarterback, he will be nearly perfect. It’s encouraging to see the second-round price tag for Sweat turning out to be a steal, given his performance.

Andrew Billings

Andrew Billings has been a challenge for the offensive line, causing multiple false starts on his own. He’s had an excellent start at camp.

Khalil Herbert

Herbert faced a lot of pressure with the addition of D’Andre Swift this past offseason. However, he has delivered and demonstrated why he is clearly the No. 2 back in my opinion.

Progress Reports

I will provide progress reports throughout training camp, including updates on players who are not listed in the rising and falling columns. Keep an eye out for those updates.

@Rocket sounds cool. We have Waldron who is a TE guy tho. I’m expecting a lot of TE action in the red zone. I am not too worried about routes and receivers.

I am much more concerned about the O-Line.

I’m dreaming of 4 receiver sets with Moore, Allen, Odunze, Scott. Every possible skill set on the field at once. Somebody’s open. A defensive backfield nightmare.
