The Minnesota Vikings can’t seem to catch a break this off-season. Their offensive coordinator kicked this off with a drunk driving incident a few months ago. Wide receiver Jordan Addison added a DWI of his own this past week, mere days after his rookie teammate, Khyrie Jackson, was killed during another. They didn’t get the quarterback they wanted, Drake Maye, in the draft and had to settle for J.J. McCarthy. Now McCarthy is approaching a holdout because they refuse to fully guarantee his signing bonus. If all of that weren’t bad enough, Justin Jefferson got in on the fun.
The superstar wide receiver just signed a contract extension to make him the highest-paid player at his position in NFL history. He has now rewarded his team by confirming through court documents that he got a woman pregnant, tried to make her abort it, and fought paternity through legal means. In the end, it didn’t work. Jefferson was confirmed the father and is now being forced to pay child support, according to Alex Raskin of the Daily Mail. A stain on the reputation of one of the NFL’s biggest stars.
“Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson has been established as the father of a baby girl, according to an order issued by a family court judge in New Jersey.
That order, made by Judge Aldo J Russo on June 26 and obtained by DailyMail.com, states that an ‘”‘interim child support obligation’ has been agreed to between Jefferson and the child’s mother, Andrea Galea…
…Galea accused Jefferson of pressuring her to abort her child after she became pregnant in 2023…Galea decided to have the child and gave birth to baby Stella in December, according to her paternity lawsuit.”
Justin Jefferson has never come across as the most upstanding guy.
If you look at the way he carries himself, you will see that he’s very much in that “diva” category. It is far more about him than it is about the team. While that might be the best way to motivate himself, it can be grating on others in the locker room. This latest fiasco is another black eye on an organization that liked to carry itself as one of the NFL’s most upstanding. When your best player does stuff like this, it shows cracks in the foundation. If nothing else, it gives something for Chicago Bears fans to laugh at.
One thing Justin Jefferson must worry about is who will throw him the football this season. Kirk Cousins is gone. For all the criticisms, the former Pro Bowler was an accomplished passer. The same can’t be said for Sam Darnold, a former draft bust who has bounced between multiple teams in recent years. It is either that or McCarthy, who is both a rookie and somebody with a somewhat dubious track record as a passer. Jefferson’s life is about to get more difficult.

I’m with @jmscooby on this. Nothing wrong with having a discussion if an unmarried couple gets pregnant. Whatever happened after that should be between the man, the woman, and her doctor (with the decision making power with the woman). Not sure that an invasion of their privacy is appropriate. Didn’t Brian Urlacher get involved in something like this? We should all know that the best athletes will represent a spectrum in other areas, from devoted family men to confirmed bachelors, from far right to far left politically, from responsible to reprehensible, etc. If you can’t root for a player because… Read more »
Writer, hypothetical(?) A young man and young woman out of wedlock have sex. The woman becomes pregnant. Is having an abortion an appropriate conversation to have between that man and woman? Is there a need to skew it to the man being a douche about an appropriate conversation? Most women are pro choice, right?
I have no idea how many times you have read Pride and Prejudice, but let’s bring a man’s perspective into the discussion.
Aaron Rodgers is a dick. My football talk is done for the day.
No way that girl was getting an abortion. That baby made her a millionaire. She knows the game. She’s obviously a lot smarter than JJ
UGH!!!! Seriously??? Let’s put all this stuff aside and focus on the BEARS!!! The Camp starts for the Rookies tomorrow and hopefully we will start to see some news/communications on what they are doing until the vets check in on Friday. Who cares about all this other junk?
