Garrett Crochet Adds Another Award To His Resume

-

Nobody knew how Garrett Crochet would transition into a starter, as for his short MLB career, he was always pitching out of the bullpen. But, after making his first career start on Opening Day, we got a glimpse of the ace Crochet could be.

Since Opening Day, he has been almost unhittable, as he is statistically one of the best pitchers in the major leagues. He is one of leaders in WAR, strikeouts, FIP, and K/9. Not too bad for someone who is starting for the first time in his career.

To go along with those amazing stats, he has a phenomenal 3.08 ERA and a .96 WHIP. Many White Sox fans knew he had talent, but I’m not sure many people could have predicted a breakout like this.

Crochet recently was awarded the pitcher of the month in the American League, as he had a phenomenal June. He had a 1.91 ERA over six starts, striking out 56 batters in just 37.2 innings. Those are insane numbers and I’m sure giving Crochet that award was a no brainer.

But now, Crochet can add another award to his resume, as he was named as an American League all-star.

This is another extremely well deserved award, as Crochet has stepped up and became the new ace of the White Sox rotation. He is the first pitcher to be named to the all-star game since Liam Hendriks in 2022 and the first starter since Lance Lynn and Carlos Rodon in 2021.

Due to his dominance this season, I’m sure he is in conversation to start the game, as it would allow him to showcase his arsenal against some of the best talent on the national stage.

Crochet will likely be the only White Sox all-star this season, as they haven’t had much going for them this season. There is a possibility that Erick Fedde could be named as a replacement on the roster, as he is also deserving of an all-star nod.

With all the uncertainty surrounding Crochet’s future with the White Sox, it is nice to see him represent the White Sox at the all-star festivities. If he continues to pitch like this in the future, this will not be his only appearance, as he could stack them as his young career continues to take off. Congratulations, Garrett!
