White Sox Make A Huge Promotion To AAA

-

Over the last few days the White Sox have been shifting around some of the minor league rosters, as it seems the White Sox are preparing for an influx of talent at the trade deadline. But, one move stuck out more than the others, as it has been reported by Francys Romero that top prospect Edgar Quero has been promoted to AAA.

This is huge news for the White Sox, as one of their most talented prospects is now just one step away from a promotion to Chicago. This is a very well deserved promotion, as Quero has been having a phenomenal season.

So far, Quero is hitting .275 with a .360 OBP. He has 12 homeruns, 53 RBIs, and one stolen base. If he can translate his success to AAA, he’s on pace for a 25 homer, 100 RBI season as a catcher. If that wasn’t impressive enough, he’s doing this as a 21 year old in AA, which is much younger than the average player.

Despite having a solid season in AA last year, Quero has crushed his totals from 2023. He has already doubled his HR total and he has just a few less RBIs. If he can keep this hot streak up at AAA, a promotion to Chicago at the end of the year is not out of the question.

It seems that Chris Getz likes to be aggressive with his promotions, as he wants to see what some of these top prospects can do. Quero had nothing left to prove at AA, so this was a needed promotion. Under Getz, if you deserve a promotion, you’re likely to get it, as he has promoted a lot of prospects recently.

Quero is not the only name making his way to AAA, as another top performer at Birmingham is on his way to Charlotte with him.

According to Elijah Evans, Brooks Baldwin is joining Quero in AAA as well. This is a huge promotion, as Baldwin is having a huge season. He’s hitting .322 with a .386 OBP and a very good .827 OPS. He has six homeruns, 37 RBIs, and 16 stolen bases. He broke out this season and is now one step closer to the majors.

I predict we will see Baldwin in Chicago before we see Quero, as Baldwin is a few years older. If the White Sox move Paul DeJong at the deadline, Baldwin could come up and see some time as the everyday shortstop, which would be a great move.

If Baldwin gets some significant playing time in the majors this season, he could cement himself into the core of the White Sox plans if he plays anywhere like he did in AA. His positional versatility will help, as he can play multiple positions, giving him a chance for more playing time.

Both players are well deserving of these promotions and it is good to see some of the talent make it one step closer to the majors, as the White Sox could desperately use an influx of young talent.
