White Sox Bring Back Left-Hander For Second Stint In Organization

-

The White Sox have claimed left-handed pitcher Sammy Peralta off waivers from the Seattle Mariners. According to an official announcement from the White Sox, Peralta will be optioned to Triple-A Charlotte.

Peralta has appeared in just 16 MLB games, which all came with the White Sox this season. He owns a 4.05 ERA in 20 innings with 18 strikeouts and 11 walks. That gaudy 12.2% walk rate is one of the reasons the White Sox placed him on waivers on April 2nd.

He was claimed by the Mariners but never appeared in a game for the big league club. During his 12 games in Triple-A Tacoma, he posted a 9.24 ERA in 12.2 innings. His struggles with command continued as walked eight batters and struck out 12.

The 25-year-old was selected by the White Sox in the 18th round of the 2019 draft. In four seasons in the White Sox minor league system, Peralta limited opponents to a .240 batting average while posting a 3.96 ERA. During his first stint in Triple-A Charlotte, he owned a 5.09 ERA in 69 innings in 2023.
