The Caleb Williams era has officially begun, bringing high expectations from both the media and fans. The Bears are anticipated to be a dangerous team in 2024, thanks to their off-season additions. However, Chiefs superstar tight end Travis Kelce might have the boldest opinion on Caleb Williams yet. On his podcast “New Heights,” which he co-hosts with his brother and Eagles legend Jason Kelce, the All-Pro tight end offered high praise for the new Chicago quarterback.
“He has that game changer mentality where at any moment he can kill you with his arm and he can do the same thing with his legs… I think Caleb [Williams] kills it.”
Kelce didn’t stop there with the praise; he went on to compare Williams to his current quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
“Watching him play over the last couple of years both at Oklahoma and USC I thought he was an absolute stud. Similar to how Patty Mahomes plays the game.”
A familiar comparison.
Caleb Williams has often been compared to Patrick Mahomes, highlighting his skill set as a quarterback prospect. Both the media and current NFL players recognize Williams as a rare talent. With the Bears current roster and fairly easy schedule, it will be fascinating to see how quickly Williams can ascend to being one of the top quarterbacks in the league. Although he has much to prove, the respect and high expectations for the Washington native are already very prevalent throughout the NFL landscape.

@BearDownTX There is a lot to be happy about for the Bears. I just hope that there isn’t a lot of unwarranted hype here. I think what people forget is, Caleb started out as an RB way back when. He has the body of a RB and the elusiveness but not the breakaway speed. All we need is him to keep plays alive with his legs to either find an open receiver or make positive yards when it seems he’s caught behind the line of scrimmage. How happy would we be if he was 50/50 on the pass/run option. Meaning… Read more »
The key I think is that Caleb is multi-dimensional. In interviews, he admits he hates running, but he knows he has the talent to do it regularly if things break down. Yes, the Bears line wouldn’t compare favorably to the Super Bowl champions line, but his ability to put the ball up on the run will stop people from charging him with the ball in his hand. He is elusive enough to make people miss or throw to the receiver closest to him just before you get there. We forget or at least until now, I’ve concentrated on the passing… Read more »
What have you been smoking lately Dr?
None of this matters unless you have a strong O line, which I think we’ve overlooked. Look at KC.
Caleb could end up being better than Mahomes but will never be as tall or fast. He might also not be as well coached or win more Superbowls but could conceivably be known as more productive, exciting, or resilient in other qualitative or contextual areas not considered typically by the metrics.
