Perfect WR Just Became Available For Chicago Bears

-

The Chicago Bears have been relatively quiet during free agency up to now. However, they now have an opportunity to potentially make a big move. The Los Angeles Chargers recently released wide receiver Mike Williams due to salary cap issues. Despite his talent, injuries have been a recurring issue for him in recent years. However, he has proven to be a dependable weapon for Justin Herbert whenever he has been healthy and on the field. Over the course of his career, Williams has 309 receptions, 4,806 receiving yards, and 31 total touchdowns. The 6′ 4″, 218 pound receiver would be a great weapon for either Justin Fields or a rookie QB.

Mike Williams has history with Bears WR Coach

Mike Williams has spent the past three seasons with current Bears wide receiver coach, Chris Beatty. This connection might give the Bears an edge in potentially luring Williams to Chicago, especially since the team has more than enough financial flexibility to make a compelling offer. However, I don’t anticipate that Williams will demand top dollar for his position in the market.

Adding Williams to a group that includes DJ Moore, Tyler Scott, Velus Jones Jr., and possibly a rookie wide receiver like Rome Odunze could boost the Bears wide receiver room. This is crucial as former Bears WR Darnell Mooney recently signed with the Atlanta Falcons on a three-year deal.

It remains to be seen how aggressive Ryan Poles will be in pursuing Williams. But this potential move could be what Poles has been waiting for, given the opportunity it presents to fill a huge roster need.

How many of you actually considered the possibility that Ryan Poles could weaken his team during the NFL free agency period?

Well, that’s what has occurred so far.

Hopefully they can snag Williams. Look at how many balls Darnell Mooney missed off the tip of his fingers. A guy 6’4″ 218 with some hops would have made those catches without a problem. And it probably would have swung a few games. I just have to add, all of the prognostication that has been going on, and whom they are signing, are at polar opposites. So all of the insiders or those who are giving so-called insider information, must not be inside, lol, but outside in the outhouse. I think it’s the same thing with Justin Fields and all… Read more »

I am probably 60/40 in wanting a WR/DL at #9-best to support the rookie at QB

Good player if healthy. Seems like an excellent compliment to DJ. It would free Poles up at #9 to trade back, get a pass rusher, and perhaps get lucky and have JPJ fall into the 2nd round.

I’d be fine with one of the top 3 Wr’s and Turner if they are gone. Perhaps they have a Center they like in round 3

With Tenn signing Ridley and Atl signing Mooney, there’s a good chance that’s 2 teams taken out of the concern to draft one of the top 3 WR’s. And I could see the Giants talking themselves into McCarthy. There’s always of course the possibility of someone trading up for one of those WR’s, but as it stands right now, it’s very very possible 1 of those top 3 make it to #9.
