The 2024 NFL Combine has arrived, marking a significant week for numerous teams, with the Chicago Bears at the top of that list. Amidst the many speculations from insiders regarding the Bears next move at QB, I feel compelled to share my personal perspective. While many of my followers assume I am firmly in the camp of building around Justin Fields, I want to clarify my stance. While I recognize the allure of drafting talents like Caleb Williams or Drake Maye, I do want the team to go a different route.
The Bears should continue to build around Justin Fields
In my view, the Bears best path forward involves trading the first overall pick to accumulate additional resources and build the roster around Fields, who has not received the necessary support he deserves since joining the team three years ago. While the team made strides last season, one offseason was insufficient to fully address the challenges faced when Ryan Poles did a complete tear down in 2022. I hope the Bears continue leveraging the draft to acquire multiple assets, offering GM Ryan Poles another opportunity to infuse the team with promising young talent.
Although my suggestion may not align with everyone, I maintain faith in Fields potential.

By surrounding him with even more talent, I believe he can lead the Bears to success. Every quarterback has weaknesses, but mitigating these shortcomings requires bolstering the supporting cast and implementing a system tailored to amplify their strengths and minimize weaknesses.
I won’t dive into detail defending Fields, as I simply want to share my stance on the QB dilemma as the NFL Draft nears. Nevertheless, I respect differing viewpoints, acknowledging that debates are vital to the sports landscape. Should the organization opt for a different direction, I will of course support the new quarterback. It’s important to recognize that people will have different perspectives, and that’s completely okay. While it’s good to engage in debates, it’s crucial to maintain respect during conversations. Even if we present evidence and make efforts to persuade, some people may still stick to their viewpoints, and that’s fine. It adds fire to many of discussions, especially those about sports. With the combine starting, let’s just embrace the excitement, regardless of our opinions on the Bears quarterback situation. No matter what happens in the next month, the Bears will get better. That is a win no matter where you fall in the QB debate.

Is Fields as good as Purdy? He’s no worse and Purdy’s team owns the NFC.

@Bronx Bear One – It was not. Mooney’s best season was with Andy Dalton, not Fields. That 2021 season the Bears had 3 QBs that played. Here are Mooney’s stats with each, including splitting the game out that Dalton got hurt in game 3. Mooney w/Dalton: 42 catches, 521 yards (6 games and 1 quarter) Mooney w Foles: 5 catches, 57 yards Mooney w Fields: 34 catches, 477 yards (9 games and 3 quarters) So, more catches and more yards in 3 and 3/4 fewer games with a pocket passer. The obsession with quarterbacks is out of control Jim. Fumbles at the goal line, taunting penalties and supposedly elite receivers not showing up are just excuses in your mind. It still matters what is the best offer for Fields. If you get a nice offer and Fields is gone, then you need to draft a QB who has a higher floor. If you wind up keeping Fields then you can sit a new guy for a year which everyone knows is better anyway. We know that Caleb would be playing by October unless the incumbent QB wins every game.
