NFL Insider Hints At Blockbuster Trade For Number 1 Pick

-

Last week, the Washington Commanders made a big decision by hiring Kliff Kingsbury as their new offensive coordinator. This move immediately sparked speculation about their interest in Caleb Williams. It’s a reasonable assumption considering Williams played under Kingsbury at USC, and he is from Washington, adding another layer of intrigue. Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated highlighted the possibility of the Commanders pursuing the number one draft pick from Chicago, indicating it wouldn’t be surprising if they made such a move. He shared this update during his conversation with CHGO on Monday.

It would not surprise me If Washington put together some blockbuster offer to get Caleb Williams.”

If the Bears aren’t fully convinced about Caleb Williams, the compensation they could receive from Washington or other interested teams will likely be a king’s ransom. GM Ryan Poles is facing franchise altering decisions ahead.

The trick will be to identify the team least likely to improve that much with Williams while still staying high enough to hopefully draft MHJ. If they could get him AND a top 5 pick in next year’s draft, wow…

This is not a normal year for a draft. This qb class is exceptional along with w/r. But there’s so much quality in this draft that this is one of the few times that you can even trade out of the top 10 and still get a good player. Even players in round 2 would go in round 1 on a normal draft. There are so many teams that need a qb and with the quality of the qb class the price may exceeded everyone’s expectations. This can turn into a feeding frenzy and even the Commanders may pay much… Read more »

I think the Kings Ransom is more like this years first and second, and possibly 2 future 2nd’s. The other piece is what player would the Bears want as part of the deal as well?

@Sam K Agreed. The teams you could steal their entire future are more like Atlanta, Denver and Las Vegas. With Atlanta, you’d probably get 3 – 1st’s and even a couple of 2nd’s because Blank is old, desperate to win now, and they believe QB is their last hole, so losing future top picks might be okay to them. In Denver, I think Payton might be getting a little itchy/desperate to avoid being exposed as a mediocre coach without Drew Brees, and he has never been shy about selling out the future for now. He could offer up a similar… Read more »
