According to a recent report, Chicago easily has the most faithful fans on social media when compared to New York and L.A. When the votes are broken down per team, you might be surprised to find out who Chicago’s ‘top team’ really is.
How The Data Was Compiled
DNAinfo Chicago compiled a report based off Facebook’s Ad Manager which allows certain pages to be broken down by geographical location and popularity. When measuring Chicago’s loyalty to each of the five major teams, it was revealed that 39% of Chicagoans like a page associated with one of the teams. This compares to 25% in New York, even though they are considered to have eight major teams.
“In New York or L.A., the celebrities are the Hollywood-type actors, ” said Grant DePorter, CEO of the Harry Caray Restaurant Group, which runs theChicago Sports Museum. “In Chicago, the real celebrities are the athletes.”
