Poles’ Best Move Today Was Not Making A Trade, Jaylon Johnson Remains In Chicago

-

The trade deadline has passed. Much to the surprise of everyone, Ryan Poles was a buyer today. That will send positive shockwaves through the Bears’ players. Poles added a top-tier edge rusher in Montez Sweat and placed a high value on Jaylon Johnson. No team was willing to meet the demands Poles wanted. This gives fans a glimmer of hope the Bears will work to sign the Bears’ best cornerback after the conclusion of this season.

Fans are already excited to see what Johnson can do playing behind a defensive line that should now be able to pressure the quarterback. All too often this year, the defense was forced into playing a soft zone coverage since the DL could not pressure the QB.

It now can be argued Chicago has All-Pro caliber talent on all three levels defensively. Adding Sweat to the unit with Edmunds and Johnson. This bodes well for a unit that has shown signs of improvement over the last few weeks.

The team announced a corresponding roster move to make room for Montez Sweat. They have waived DE Khalid Kareem. It is expected Kareem will land on the practice squad tomorrow.

@Sam K – I don’t dislike Sweat at all. I dislike how much we gave up vs what the 49ers did to get Young. And I really hate that he is not signed. If that goes south on us, look out below.

The best thing Poles could do for the Bears is resign. And take Eberflus with him.
