Jaire Alexander Taking A Not-So-Subtle Jab At Jordan Love Is Pure Delight

-

People were ready to anoint Jordan Love as the heir apparent to Aaron Rodgers after his strong start to the 2023 season. The Green Bay Packers quarterback threw six touchdowns and no interceptions through his first two games. Fans were already making plans for his future Hall of Fame speech. Time is quickly proving that may have been more than a little premature. After his promising start, the Packers quarterback has crumbled over the past three weeks. He’s managed only 687 yards and two touchdowns with six interceptions over that span, completing barely 55% of his passes. This included a blowout loss to Detroit and a humiliating upset loss to the Las Vegas Raiders. Certain people are already having reservations. Jaire Alexander is one of them.

The Pro Bowl cornerback has never been shy about speaking his mind. One could say he tends to run his mouth too often. Such a tendency can get a man in trouble. That proved the case after the loss on Monday night in Vegas. A frustrated Alexander didn’t hold back, stating it’s pretty clear the Packers’ offense isn’t equipped enough to win games right now. It falls on the defense to do all the work moving forward.

You couldn’t ask for a more prominent sign that some in the locker room already have concerns about Love.

Jaire Alexander hinted at what many think.

Love’s only actual good game this season came on opening day against Chicago. That proved to be against the second-worst pass defense in the NFL. Since then, he’s faced more credible opponents, and they all have had few issues slowing him down. This comes despite credible protection from his offensive line and a steady ground attack that ranks 9th in the league. People have tried to make excuses about things not being great with his receivers. However, the honest truth is that Love is the primary issue with this offense.

Head coach Matt Lafleur has called plays as well as could be asked. He’s put his quarterback in positions for success constantly. Love isn’t taking advantage. Jaire Alexander probably shouldn’t have opened his mouth, but what he said hit home. The offense can no longer dig this team out of trouble every time they’re in tight games. Rodgers isn’t walking through that door anymore. Green Bay hasn’t known life without a Hall of Fame quarterback for 30 years. It seems they’re getting their first taste.
