Practice Squad and Waiver Claims: Tracking Wednesday’s Roster Moves

-

The Bears have been busy today. They have already changed their 53-man roster via the waiver wire. They are also working to fill their practice squad. We are tracking it all for you!

During the waiver period, Chicago added two players from the waiver list.

DB Quindell Johnson from the Rams and DE Khalid Kareem, who the Colts released

They also signed vested veteran Trent Taylor, who led the NFL in punt return average.

Those additions to the roster will result in three corresponding moves.

Terrell Lewis was waived. If he goes unclaimed, he will likely return via the practice squad.

Starting left guard Teven Jenkins will be placed on the Injury list with a designation to return. Jenkins will now miss the first four games of the season. The soonest he can return to the active roster is week five, when the Bears travel to Washington for a Thursday night game with the Commanders. Safety A. J. Thomas was waived.

The Bears are bringing back OL Roy Mbaeteka and in doing so, receive a roster exemption from the league since he came to the Bears via the NFL’s International Player Pathway Program.

Here are the other practice squad signees:

LB Micah Baskerville

DL Travis Bell

FB Robert Burns

TE Stephen Carlson

OL Aviante Collins

LB DeMarquis Gates

DL Jalen Harris

DB Greg Stroman Jr.

WR Nsimba Webster

DB Kendall Williamson

The Bears made more moves on Thursday.

QB Nathan Peterman was resigned to the 53-man roster. Center Doug Kramer was placed on IR.

Defensive linemen Deslin Alexandre and Daniel Hardy, offensive lineman Bill Murray, and kicker John Parker Romo have all been added to the practice squad.

Currently, the Bears still have two open spots on the practice squad.

We have watched a lot worse roster building than this in the past. I hate those years where it looked lazy. I don’t agree with all of the moves here but at least they are taking charge and we’ll have an improved roster. Actually I only have 2 or 3 players I disagreed about so I am ready to kick off this season. Bear Down.

Agree with Bob, and what is Bill Murray doing on this team? He’s like 70 years old; it would be painful to see him try to block Aaron Donald. On the plus side, though, he’d only do it once before they had to take him out with several severe injuries.

Im surprised they didn’t put Peterman on the practice squad as emergency insurance.

here’s hoping T’ Lewis comes back… he had!! sack potential!! (still not sure why they initially put him on 53, then released him.

(wonder if it was an attitude or didn’t like the H I T S principal(aka a little lazy)) not sure but that was the biggest shocker for me.

What about Fountain… seemed to play well in preseason too?
