Eloy Jimenez has suffered another injury scare. The White Sox right fielder exited Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Braves in the second inning.
The White Sox announced that Eloy Jimenez was removed from the game with “left groin tightness and is being further evaluated.” After the game, Perdro Grifol said that he could be out for four to five days.
With runners on first and third in the first inning, Jimenez grounded into a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning. It did not appear that anything was wrong as he ran down the line. However, he was replaced by Gavin Sheets in his next at-bat.
Jimenez is hitting .269 on the year with 12 home runs, 40 RBIs, and a .776 OPS. He has played in 62 of the White Sox’s 94 games. After a slow start to the season, the 26-year-old has played better as of late. In his last 15 games, he owns a .321/.356/518 slash line.
Jimenez had a stint on the 10-day IL in early May for an appendectomy, that kept him out of the lineup from May 6th until May 28th. In the past three seasons, he has been limited to just 201 games due to a variety of injuries.
Jimenez is good when he plays, but his injury problems are just too much for the team to continue to deal with! He hasn’t played in 100 or more games since his rookie season!
Get rid of the guy. You cannot depend upon him. This is a joke
He needs to start training with Tim Grover immediately.
His career is in jeopardy in the hands of White Sox medical/training staff.
