Bulls Have Found Hidden Gem In Summer League

-

The Chicago Bulls are 2-1 in this year’s Vegas Summer League and just might have found a potential replacement for Ayo Dosunmu given the uncertainty of his current free agency status.

Who Is Javon Freeman-Liberty?

Javon Freeman-Liberty is a 6’4″ guard from DePaul University who averaged 14.8 ppg, 4.9 rpg, and 2.4 apg for the Windy City Bulls last season. And right now, he is lighting it up for the Bulls in the Summer League. Through 3 games he is averaging 21.3 ppg. Last night he went absolutely nuclear vs the Sacramento Kings where he dropped 28 points along with 6 assists and 2 steals.

Javon is definitely making a solid case that he belongs on an NBA roster but still has a long way to go before that becomes a reality. If he can continue this hot streak, there is no doubt he will get that opportunity. Hoops Hype currently has him ranked as the 5th best overall player from Summer League but the number one free agent. However, if the Bulls can get a deal done with hometown talent, Ayo Dosunmu, I believe that would be the best scenario for the franchise moving forward. It will be interesting to monitor Dosunmu’s free agency status and potential offers that might filter in from other teams. If one does arrive and the numbers exceed what the Bulls might be willing to pay, giving the 23-year-old Freeman a shot might prove to be a solid back up plan with some serious upside.
