Equanimeous St. Brown Warns Brother Lions Aren’t Ready For Bears Offense

-

One of the cool things about football is that it’s a family game. The sport has seen many instances of family members either playing as teammates or, more often, going toe-to-toe. Peyton and Eli Manning were one such example. There was also Tiki and Ronde Barber. The list is more extensive than you think. Now the Chicago Bears have a small piece of this experience as wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown prepares to battle his brother Amon-Ra St. Brown on Sunday when the Detroit Lions visit Soldier Field.

When it comes to individual accomplishments, the younger Amon-Ra has enjoyed more success with 1,311 yards and eight touchdowns over his first 24 games. He’s by far the best receiver the Lions have. Equanimeous hasn’t been as prolific on the stat sheet, but he’s enjoyed far more team success. He played with the Green Bay Packers during their recent playoff runs, including two NFC championship game appearances. Now he’s on a Bears team with a better record and a hotter offense. He wasn’t afraid to brag about it to his brother on The 33rd Team, warning Detroit had no idea what was coming.

Equanimeous St. Brown may not contribute to this game.

He and Amon-Ra have a $1000 bet on which of their respective teams will win more games this season. Detroit is 2-6, while the Bears are 3-6. So it’s a tight race thus far. This game might go a long way in determining the winner of that bet. Equanimeous would undoubtedly like to contribute to his brother’s misery with a nice game. The problem is he may not get a chance. His ugly drop on 4th down last week against Miami didn’t do him any favors in the eyes of his coaches. Making matters worse is the return of Byron Pringle from IR. Together with Chase Claypool’s arrival via trade, there may not be much room left for him to contribute outside run-blocking.

Strangely this game may end up unfolding the way their careers have. Amon-Ra will have the better individual performance, while Equanimeous St. Brown will get the win. Then again, predicting these two teams feels futile. Detroit just beat the Green Bay Packers last week. Chicago’s defense hasn’t stopped anybody for two weeks. It wouldn’t be a surprise if either team won this game. That said, EQ wasn’t lying. The Bears’ offense is humming right now, and the Lions don’t have the pieces necessary to stop it.

We got the ol Allen Iverson offense. The Bears players stand around and Fields either takes off running or… wait… just takes off running.
